To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han
Author Jenny Han pens the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series of young adult novels. It began publication in the year 2014, when “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” was released. The series concluded after three books, when “Always and Forever, Lara Jean” was released.

The series stars Jean Song Covey, who is a girl in high school whose life ends up getting turned upside down after letters she penned to different former crushes are mailed out to each crush without her knowledge.

“To All the Boys” has since been published in thirty languages since its release. It also spent forty weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list Young Adult section. “P.S. I Still Love You” spent five weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list, and wound up peaking at number two in the Young Adult section.

While she was writing “To All the Boys”, she wanted to tell a story that felt a lot like you were sitting around the hearth, and felt warm and cozy at the end. She wanted these books to give readers the same feelings that certain books used to give her.

One of the reasons she wrote “P.S. I Still Love You” is because of the character John Ambrose McClaren, because he is a fan favorite and a favorite of Jenny’s. Another character she enjoys writing is a character named Stormy, who is the older woman that Lara Jean gets close with at the retirement home she volunteers at.

Jenny liked being able to take her time with a single character, telling her story and show her growth and evolution. This is the luxury of reading more than a single book, you will get to follow each of the characters and see what they look like during different parts of their life.

She feels that the series is a trilogy, feeling that even though the characters will continue on, she just feels like she is finished seeing what they are doing. She does find that people will ask her quite a bit about how things have been going after the series wraps up.

“P.S. I Still Love You”, the second book in the series, won the Young Adult 2015-2016 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature.

A movie adaptation of the first book was released on Netflix in the year 2018. It was written by Sofia Alvarez and directed by Susan Johnson. The movie stars Lana Condor (who plays Lara Jean), Noah Centineo, and Janel Parrish. Jenny makes a brief cameo in the film.

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is the first novel in the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series, which was released in the year 2014. This is the story of Lara Jean, who never openly admitted her crushes. Instead she wrote the boys each one letter about her feelings, sealed them up, and hid them under her bed in a box.

One day, however, Lara Jean finds out that somehow the secret box filled with letters was mailed. It caused all of her crushes to confront her about these letters. The boy from summer camp. Her first kiss. Even Josh, her sister’s ex-boyfriend. While she learns how to deal with all of her past loves face to face, she finds that something good might just come from these letters after all.

Fans found this one enjoyable and liked the amount of character development found within. It makes for an enjoyable and quick read. Readers found everything about this book to be adorable, and it has a love triangle that kept some on their toes the entire time. Lara Jean is a relatable character that some were rooting for all the way through.

“P.S. I Still Love You” is the second novel in the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series, which was released in the year 2015. Lara Jean was not expecting to actually fall for Peter. They were just pretending. Except all of a sudden they really weren’t. Now Lara Jean is much more confused than ever now. Another boy from her past turns up in her life. Lara Jean’s has got feelings that return for him as well. Can a girl actually be in love with two guys at once?

Fans found the realistic part of the book grabbed them by the heart and did not let them go. Lara Jean is kiddish and unabashedly so, she likes planning parties at a retirement home, baking to perfection, and adores crafting. The girl is a gentle soul, homebody, and a completely and totally adorable. She has grown a bunch since the previous book and still maintains all of her inner fire and personality.

“Always and Forever, Lara Jean” is the third novel in the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series, which was released in the year 2017. Lara Jean is having a great senior year. There is still a lot to look forward to. There is prom with her boyfriend, Peter. A class trip off to New York City. Beach Week after she graduates. Not to mention, her dad’s wedding to Ms. Rothschild. Then she is going to college with Peter, at a school that is still close enough that she can come home on weekends to bake chocolate chip cookies.

Things couldn’t be more perfect for her than they are right now. That is what she thinks, anyway. That ends when she gets some unexpected news. The girl that dreads any kind of change has to rethink all of her plans. However, when your head and heart are telling you two totally different things, which one should you actually listen to?

This book does a great job of tackling some real teen issues while still being lovable and entertaining. Readers find that they are in love with Peter and Lara Jean. This book does a great job of talking about college, as it looks at Lara Jean struggling with figuring which college she wants to go to, coping with rejection, and finding a balance with life at home and life at college and it’s a real portrayal.
