Meghan Ciana Doidge was born October 11 in Canada and she has a penchant for superheroes, bloody love stories, and the supernatural. She also has a thing for cashmere, chocolate, sock yarn, and potatoes.

Meghan’s debut novel, called “Spirit Binder”, was released in the year 2012. She writes the “Dowser” series, the “Oracle” series, the “Reconstructionist” series, and the “Amplifier” series, as well as some stand alone work. Her work is from the urban fantasy, paranormal, science fiction, and fantasy genres.

“Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic” is the first novel in the “Dowser” series and was released in the year 2013. If you had asked Jade just the week before, she would have said that dancing in the crowd of magic wielders- known as the Adept, was better than sex, the very best cupcakes were dark chocolate with chocolate cream cheese icing, and that her life was both uneventful and peaceful. Just how she liked it.

That is what spending twenty-three years in a magical backwater like Vancouver is going to get you, a totally skewed sense of reality. When dead werewolves began showing up, it all began unraveling. Except for the thing about cupcakes. That is just a universal truth.

Jade is a good girl and a character that is easy to root for, while she attempts wading through the swamp that has become her simple and sweet life that has been turned upside down. Fans enjoyed the interesting magic system used in the novel, and a solid plot with an engaging mystery.

“Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic” is the second novel in the “Dowser” series and was released in the year 2013. Jade lost her foster sister, Sienna, to the darkness three months previous. As in chaos, blood magic, and general mayhem. Nobody saw it until it was much too late, however Jade should have. Now, she has a wounded heart and soul that she is unable to reveal to anybody around her, since she is supposed to hate Sienna with all of the fiery passion of the justified.

She does. She just wishes that she didn’t feel so unsure of the path she believed she had made for herself, and lost without Sienna. Not to mention so outclassed by the very powerful Adepts always by her side these days. Jade is not even entirely sure if they are with her for her own protection or because her brand new powers are so valuable and rare. Assuming she ever figures out just who or what she is, and how exactly her magic is supposed to work. Even chocolate is unable to save the day every single time. Just most of the time. So at least she has that working in her favor.

This novel has an interesting plot, some strong writing, and a ton of supernatural characters that readers love more the more they get to know them.

“Treasures, Demons, and Other Black Magic” is the third novel in the “Dowser” series and was released in the year 2014. Jade had not set foot back in the human world for more than just a few hours in more than three and a half months. Sure she was faster and stronger than ever, and she had a sword that was nice and shiny, but she was seriously deprived of chocolate. She doesn’t recommend quitting the stuff cold turkey.

The new sword was also a problem, to her way of thinking. It represented all of the expectations of a powerful dad and a whole new otherworldly life. One that wasn’t the one she had worked so hard to build. The thing represented the responsibility that she had to bring Sienna to…Justice? She isn’t sure exactly.

Jade didn’t even know if that was possible. What she realized was that Sienna would never stop, and that Jade was unable to leave it all up to destiny and fate. Or maybe she could. She could possibly be doing exactly what she was supposed to be doing. Assuming anybody believes in that type of thing. She just hoped that before all the mayhem and chaos, she would manage to get her hands on a bit of chocolate. It didn’t even need to be single-origin Madagascar, as she would be utterly prepared to lower her standards.

“Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic” is the fourth novel in the “Dowser” series and was released in the year 2015. Jade had some cupcakes to bake, a new dragon in town, and a new treasure for her to hunt. Who wouldn’t be ecstatic just filling their days with trinket collecting, chocolate, and martial arts training? Jade, that’s who.

This is because no matter how much chocolate she consumed, she just wasn’t able to fill that dark pit in her soul. Darkness born out of blood alchemy. A darkness that stunk of the black magic that she now knew for sure was able to create. Although it might just be time for her to walk away.

What if there were important things left for her to do? What if she was the one and only that could do what needed to be done? She was unsure she was able to handle this responsibility, however as long as she had her chocolate stash and one good buddy to back her up, she was more than willing to give it a shot.

“Maps, Artifacts, and Other Arcane Magic” is the fifth novel in the “Dowser” series and was released in the year 2015. One treasure down and two left to go.

Three months prior, Jade came close to losing her best friend as she was retrieving the first instrument for assassination. She also inadvertently released one of her rivals that was definitely unhinged, far more powerful than she was, and obsessed with harnessing the lethal power of the artifacts that she had been tasked by those guardian dragons with collecting.

Toss in a sexy sentinel and somebody that was a nearly immortal vampire into the mix, and what could go wrong? Knowing Jade’s luck, she is about to find out.
