Lorie O’Clare
Lorie O’Clare is a fiction writer with about 80 distinct works to her name. The award-winning author writes in many genres ranging from erotic romance to thrillers featuring werewolves and other wild creatures. Some of her most notable awards include the EPPIE award in 2006 and the Reviewer’s Choice Award that she won the same year. Currently, Lorie lives in Kansas with her two dogs and three boys.
Tall, Dark and Deadly
Tall, Dark, and Deadly is the first book in the FBI series. This book tells the story of Grace Jordan, a woman who is trying to rebuild her life after some traumatic events. Grace is new in Rockville, a small and slow town in South Dakota. Here, Grace is looking for a quiet and peaceful place to rebuild a life with her daughter. Things do not go as planned because as soon as Grace settles in her new role as a homicide detective, young women begin to turn up brutally murdered. All the girls are between eighteen and nineteen, and it quickly becomes evident that Grace has a serial killer in her hands.
The FBI sends agent Justin Reece to help Grace with the case. Justin turns out to be everything Grace wants in a man, but her history with men is not that great, and the last thing she wants is to get entangled in a romantic relationship. Well, Justin finds Grace irresistible, and he doesn’t shy away from stating his intentions. How will Grace manage to keep away from someone she has to see every day at work? It turns out that both Grace and Justin’s daughters go to the same school, which presents even more opportunities to meet. How long will Grace resist this charming FBI agent before her feelings for him get the better of her?
As the two detectives work together, they start to uncover evidence that points to Grace’s past. Grace was abducted by a man who raped, tortured, and isolated her for years. It took Grace five years for her to escape from the evil man’s grasp, and this is only because she managed to burn down the house they were living in. Grace is sure that she saw her abuser burn, but the current clues only point to one thing, Master did not die. He is the only one who knows Grace as well as the cleverly dropped hints to the murders indicate. So, why would Master use other girls to rattle a woman who escaped ten years ago? Could someone closer to Grace be involved in all this?
Tall, Dark, and Deadly is a perfect blend of a crime thriller and a romance story. As Grace and Justin work to unravel the mystery, their feelings for each other continue to grow, and soon enough, the two detectives cannot keep their hands off each other. How does this story end for these two? Are they able to solve the murder before death knocks closer home? This is an intriguing story you are going to have trouble putting down. The author will make you fall in love with the characters, and some of the traumas they endure will keep you awake at night. This book is a perfect start to a captivating series.
Play Dirty
Play Dirty is the first book the Bounty Hunters series. The book stars Greg King, a bounty hunter who handles his business and can get any woman he wants. Greg works with his two grown sons and his niece. While getting a woman would be easy for Greg, he has been unable to move on after his wife left him. Greg doesn’t know why his beautiful wife left. This ambitious and loving father also wonders what he would have done to safeguard his marriage. Just when Greg is wondering whether he will ever recover from his loss, his wife re-appears in his life.
Haley King is forced to leave her loved ones after testifying against a vicious criminal and join a witness protection program. While this move was supposed to keep her family safe, Haley is in trouble again, and the only person she can trust is her husband. When Haley is sure that her life is in jeopardy, she reaches out to Greg, and once again, the two lovers meet again. Meeting Greg and her kids make Haley feel all kinds of way. It is clear that her disappearance hurt all of them, but she wishes they could see that she did all this for them. By going into hiding, she thought that her family was safe from a drug network that was sure to deal with anyone who messes their operations ruthlessly.
All the time Haley is away, no single day passes without Greg thinking about her, so now that she is back, he is determined to make her stay. What this couple doesn’t know is that reuniting will stir old secrets, and these could jeopardize their chance for a happily ever after. Reconnecting is also not going to be easy as they have both grown apart with the six years they have been separated. Is there a chance that Haley and Greg can enjoy a happy marriage given their different ambitions, views on life, and diverse career choices? How about Haley’s current threat? Will this woman escape with her life once again?
Play Dirty is an intriguing story of love featuring an older couple and their grown children. The chemistry between Greg and Haley sparks the story, and the author maintains a perfect balance between action and romance. You are going to love Greg, Haley, and the rest of the cast. The narration is also excellent, and it helps that the author makes you care for the characters and worry about what happens to them. Join the King family as they work to fight an enemy threatening one of their own. There are going to be many hair-raising moments, and the personal turmoil the characters are going through will push you to care and wish them the best. Will Greg get his way and convince his wife to stay? Read this book to get an answer to this and more.
