Melanie Shawn is the pen name used by two sisters Melanie and Shawna. The sister duo writes romance stories and features among the New York Times bestsellers. Melanie spent most of her childhood buried in books while Shawna enjoyed the romance in songs, movies, and other literary forms. As long a love story and a happy ending were involved, Shawna would devour it. These two sisters joined forces to create stories of true love where happily ever after is still a reality, and they have nearly 100 published works so far. The relationship between Kate and Jason is perfect, and it is heartwarming to see how they relate after all those years. The author takes the reader back to the lover’s teenage days, and even then, Jason was there for Kate whenever she needed him. All characters are well developed, and despite their flaws, it is easy to relate to them all.
My First: Jason & Katie is a story of family, love, and home. It is a story about pursuing what one wants and learning to forgive yourself. Through the main characters, we get to read about love in its purest form. After years of hiding their feelings, the main characters can no longer stay away from each other. How does Jason and Katie’s story end? If you are looking for a cute and slightly amusing story to read over summer, this book is perfect.
Teasing Destiny
Teasing Destiny is the first book in the Wishing Well, Texas series. The book stars Destiny Rose Porter and Jefferson James Griggs. Destiny always had a crush on JJ, and one night, years ago, she finally gave to her desires. While this remains the best night of her life, it also caused her first break. Four years later, Destiny has healed, and she is more careful with her heart. JJ knew that he couldn’t complete whatever he started on that night. How could he even consider having a relationship with a girl six years her junior? While he promised to be back, JJ left Destiny with a shattered heart, and, sadly, he did not do anything to help the situation.
Despite her misfortunes with love, Destiny was determined to see her dream come true. The ambitious girl knows that she will set up her bakery and settle down with a good man. Life is also great thanks to her friends Cara and Harmony. Everything is going great until JJ comes home to Wishing Well to heal from a baseball injury. JJ is Harmony’s elder brother, so the two will inevitably meet. While Destiny is sure that she still has feelings for JJ, she plans to keep away from him or at least give him trouble if he tries to start something with her. This is one promise Destiny will not be able to keep as she is powerless to fight JJ’s charm.
As memories of their night of passion come flooding, Destiny and JJ will find themselves fighting deep feelings again. JJ is determined to win her back, retire from baseball, and start a life with the woman he loves. However, he is not much of a communicator, and this brings a lot of friction between him and Destiny. In the end, his intentions come clear, and the two lovebirds make the best of their deep connection. Aside from the main characters, you will get to meet Destiny’s grandma, who is such a delight, her mum, who is a master in patience, and the rest of JJ’s family.
Teasing Destiny is a story of first romances, second chances, and family. Destiny and JJ go through a rough patch, but it is sweet that they figure out everything in the end. JJ’s inability to communicate his feelings will make you feel like shaking him to reality, but he is lucky to find a way out. Melanie Shawn’s writing style turns this into an exciting story, and it is great that everything flows perfectly. The book doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, and in the author’s style, the ending brings nothing but good news for the lovebirds.
