Friends and Foes is the debut novel in the Jonquil Brothers series. This story features the main character of Philip Jonquil. Follow along with the Earl of Lampton and all that happens on his adventures!

Philip has spent a total of five years working to track down spies and capture them in England. Now he’s chasing the last target on his list and following his quarry closely. However, once he arrives at an inn for travelers, he quickly finds a foe that he never saw coming. That would be the young lady that goes by the name of Sorrel Kendrick. The woman is outspoken but doesn’t seem to have any regard for him at all.

Sorrel is outraged when a gentleman comes up to her and has the indecency to accuse her of having committed theft. He has not only insulted her name and her character, but he has also made just about one of the worst first impressions that she has ever seen in her life. She is even more irritated later when she attends a party, only to find out that he is also there since they share friends in common.

Sorrel instantly decides that this man is not for her and the two of them quickly declare war against the other. Philip is doing his best to show how much he doesn’t care by switching between acting indifferent to Sorrel and then flirting with her. However, this approach does not seem to work as quickly he discovers that he actually does enjoy being around her much more than he ever would have guessed.

Sorrel is also finding that Philip is not as off-putting as she initially found him to be. In fact, there is something endearing about him that is quickly making her like him and his strange manner. The two have declared war on the other, but can Philip resist falling for Sorrel? Can he track down the spy he’s been after and profess his feelings to this enchanting young woman who has stumbled into his life? Read this first romance novel in the series to find out!
