Stephen Makk is a bestselling romance and thriller fiction author who is best known as the author of the “USS Stonewall Jackson” series of novels. Like many of his contemporaries, he began reading when he was very young and this would stand him in good stead in his later career.
He believes that his desire to read served him well as it enabled him to know what does not work and what does.
One of his introductory lessons on writing was when he had to imagine himself a war correspondent of a Roman war. It was an assignment given to the class by their class teacher and the praise he got from the teacher would inform his decision to pursue a career as an author.
He would go on to become a technology geek and became an engineer practicing and living in Suffolk, Teesside, and Lancashire in England and several years in Canada. Makk now makes his home in the Northern part of the UK even though he has dived and travelled extensively in the world’s Oceans and Seas.

Over the years, Stephen Makk has written more than ten works and has become known for writing novels filled with technology, a dash of romance and the military. His protagonists who are usually both female and male expertly play the imperfect hands given to them.
Makk has said that anyone who wants to write similar novels needs to have the mind of a fish, then study to be an engineer and practice for several years. They can then add in the character traits of an anthropologist, strategist, historian and astronomer.

The novel “The USS Stonewall Jackson” by Stephen Makk opens to a North Korea that has finally managed to construct the perfect ballistic nuclear submarine. It can lie in wait just off the coast of California and rain down terror on San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles at will.
The US decides it is time to remove the threat once and for all but for that they would need to dismantle the North Korean Navy one ship at a time. In exercises done with allied electric-diesel ships, the USN learned and became one of the most experienced and powerful electric-diesel ships that patrolled the American coasts.
But they will still need to employ guile and stealth to find their foe and neutralize him. They will also need cunning warriors to lead the mission. The best for the job is Nathan Blake who commands the USS Stonewall Jackson that has been referred to as the sword of vengeance.
It is not long before the USS Stonewall Jackson leaves port mean as hell and determined to find the encroaching ship. But will Nathan be able to outmaneuver the Korean People’s Navy?

Stephen Makk’s “The Spratly Incident” is the story of the Spratly Islands whose ownership has been disputed. The reefs and islands in the South China sea are believed to sit atop vast gas and oil reserves. China believes that they are just fencing in their territories and have constructed vast airbases and sea fortresses in the area.

During the short period the dispute has been ongoing, there have been armed clashes on the high seas, piracy, expulsion of residents, plundering and invasion of territory. Meanwhile, the smaller Asian powers have been unable to stop the piracy as no one expected it to become an issue in the modern age.
Only the United States can face down China and hope to win. Commander Nathan Blake is in charge of the USS Stonewall Jackson, the most powerful electric diesel ship on the high seas. With his very competent crew, he has no qualms sailing into dangerous water to face the People’s Republic of China.
But he will need excellence from every crew member as they are facing a most formidable and cunning foe.

“The Back Sea Horde” by Stephen Makk is the story of the Russian Bear which, true to its nature, stalks its prey and refuses to allow the Eagle to survey its den. The tussle is over the newly independent state of Ukraine on the Black Sea has long been considered a Russian province.
The United States and Russia are now on the verge of war but first the Pentagon will need to acquire intelligence from the ground. This is a job best performed by the USS New York City, one of the best nuclear hunter killer submarines the United States owns.
The Russian fleet on the Black Sea intends to face the American fleet in the Mediterranean after traversing the Black Sea. For the US, the first line of defense and trip wire is the USS NYC. Nathan Blake is the Lieutenant Commander in charge of the ship who has to patrol dangerous waters.
The best weapon that Ukraine had is Yana Borisova, a young spy who knows everything about her country. Nathan soon finds himself in a fight under the sea and on land in foreign shores and soon realizes that Yana may have another agenda.
