Angie Smith is an American author of Christian non-fiction and books aimed at women. She is best known as the author of Seamless: Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story, I Will Carry You: The Sacred Dance of Grief and Joy, and Woven: Understanding the Bible as One Seamless Story.

Smith has a strong faith. She has stated that a goal of hers it to walk with Jesus authentically in her own life through the joys and sorrows that life brings each of us. Through this, she aims to reflect Jesus’ faithfulness to never leave or forsake us, and, finally, to encourage other believers to do the same. It is this passion and her own desire to help others understand the Bible that inspires her to write.

She has written many books for adults as well as children’s books. Prior to becoming an author, Angie attended Vanderbilt University where she earner her Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology. In addition to her writing, she also maintains a blog which she says gives her the opportunity to help to heal people’s hearts. She is also a speaker who travels around the country.

Angie is married to Todd Smith, lead singer of the hit Christian contemporary, Dove Award winning group Selah. The two have five children, all girls, and the family makes their home in Nashville, Tennessee.

Woven: Understanding the Bible as One Seamless Story is written to answer questions for people who feel that the Bible is confusing and complicated. For a lot of people it may feel familiar, but can also be impossible to navigate. Readers might recognize the story and be familiar with them, putting them all together and making them fit is the problem for many. What Angie Smith’s book is designed to illustrate is that they do fit together.

Angie seeks to help the reader tie together all the loose and disconnected threads that you may finds in the Bible and weaves them together to make a beautifully crafted story. Smith’s book is made to take readers of scripture from confused to confident and from lost to knowledgeable. She believes that once she shows her readers the big picture that they will then be able to find it on their own on every page of the book.

Smith is also the author of Mended: Pieces of a Life Made Whole. The book is a journey to show how faith lived in the regular events of daily life are all that one needs to be a part of creating God’s picture of redemption. Every life makes a difference and that includes your own because of how God is magnified. People love to cheer for an underdog and believe that each life makes a difference, and that is a correct notion in the eyes of God.

Angie says that there is no one that God can’t use and there is no one out there who is too broken for God to fix. Many know this is true, but when it comes to our own self, our shame and regret, we can be left wondering if God can work these things for good. Angie herself struggled with this as she was always able to help a friend, but struggled in believing in her own self and her broken-ness. She ultimately was lead to God and decide to share her story of that time here.

Chasing God is a story about Angie’s own struggles to truly know God. She believed, but she ran circles around in search of him and found herself frustrated by her own lack of progress. She may still be struggling if not for one realization that changed everything for her. She realized that she wasn’t actually following God, but trying to catch up with him. This distinction affected every part of her life and it come from relying more on man’s explanation of God than the real thing. Angie had three simple words change everything and she’s going to show readers how they can do the same. The words were: stop chasing God.

Smith is also the author of What Women Fear: Walking in Faith that Transforms. The faith of a woman is challenged early in the Bible when Satan asks Eve: Did God really say you can’t eat from any tree in the garden? There is a seed of doubt in those words and the story that it begins reveals a concept of fear that haunts all woman on some level, every day. That fear is one that a woman’s action could ruin something beautiful and that God might not be in control of it. In this book, Angie blends her experiences with Scripture in order to help other women start to deal with their own human emotions. Angie takes readers through stories of others who have struggled with fear and loved God, while helping them to discover how to let Jesus redeem.

Audrey Bunny is a children’s book by Angie Smith with imperfections from Breezy Brookshire. The book follows a stuffed animal named Audrey Bunny who fears that her imperfections will make her unlovable by a little girl. The little girl will teach her the truth of that matter, that she’s known about it all along, and the young readers will learn that each person is special and made by God in their own wonderful way.

Angie Smith also wrote For Such a Time as This: Stories of Women from the Bible, Retold for Girls. This storybook for girls features forty retellings of biblical stories from women in the Old and New Testament.
