James David Victor is the author of the Jack Forge, Fleet Marine series, the Space Shifter Chronicles series, the Valyien series, the Deep Black series, the Outcast Marines series, the Memories of Earth series, the Mech Fighter series, the Star Breaker series, and the Gene Soldiers series.
The name James David Victor is actually a pen name. The author of the books is actually the team of Dave VanBergen and Shannon VanBergen. They each publish novels under their own name, but when they write together on science fiction projects they use the name of James David Victor.
David J. VanBergen Jr. writes science fiction and fantasy under his own name. He was a big fan of the genres for most of his life, but he decided to jump into the world of publishing later in life. He published his first fantasy novel in 2013 on his 40th birthday and he has been publishing books ever since. He is the author of the Epic Blade series and the Niakrim War series.
Shannon VanBergen writes cozy mysteries. She is the author of the Glock Grannies Cozy Mystery series. In addition to her writing, she is also a mother and artist.
Fomorian Brigade is the first book in the Gene Soldiers series. Carl Sebastian is a genetically engineered fighting machine that was built to win a war. With the war over, he and the other super soldiers were abandoned or sent for rehabilitation. He’s now forced to survive on his own and spends his life hiding in the shadows, looking for the medication that will keep him sane. He takes a job xeno-mutant hunting and discovers that the mutations that he is hunting have gotten far worse and more widespread than anyone knew. Breaker Marine is the first book in the Star Breaker series. Holly Cropper grew up as a Breaker who mined the outer reaches of space. She’s worked her way out of that and is now a lieutenant in the Earth Alliance Marines. SHe has a mission to keep the peace and help humanity survive in space. A distress call comes her way from a mining vessel about a pirate takeover, but it turns into something much more – a full fledged alien invasion. The Marines are now the only thing standing between humanity and their total annihilation by the ancient aliens.
The Deep Black series begins with Parallax. Captain Drummond Bayne is a Navy Ranger who works in the deep reaches of space. He is sent on a simple mission, but it turns deadly and now him and his crew must go rogue if they want to make it out alive. They go up against some space pirates and will need to throw the rule book out the window if they hope to survive.
Metal Warrior: Born of Steel is the first book in the Mech Fighter series. Dane Williams barely made it out of alive after the Exin attack and has been faced with pain and torment ever since. He gets a chance at a normal life thanks to experimental drugs and a robotic suit as a new member of the Marine Mechanized Infantry Division. His entry into the military will give him the chance to strike back at the enemy that has caused so much pain throughout the world. Humanity may be heading for an extinction level event unless Dane and his fellow Marines can fight back.
Federation at War is the first book in the Blue Star Marines series. Human has waged war against itself for generations, but now a new alien threat will change all of that. Humanity will have to face the facts that they are not the only living beings in the galaxy and worse, the aliens are far superior and far more powerful.
Challenge of Steel is the first book in the Memories of Earth series. Anders Corsigon brings galactic criminals to justice and has for all of his life. Now a bizarre murder has turned into multiple assassinations. Anders is now on the hunt of a killer, but that killer is also protected by the highest levels of the empire. His search turns out not to only be for a killer, but a search to uncover a truth that could destroy the galaxy.
Outcasts of Earth is the first book in the Outcast Marines series. The Outcast Marines are the worst of the worst and are given all of the missions that no one else will or can do. Solomon, Jezzie, Malady, and the other Outcasts took the job because the opposite was much worse, death on a prison moon. They aren’t necessarily good guys, but that’s okay because sometimes it takes bad guys to get the job done.
The Raven Sharpe Chronicles series begins with Raven Sharpe. The story follows Raven who is a galactic bounty hunter who always gets their mark. She works with a cybergenetically enhanced cougar and travels the universe in her work. She gets a personal case when her ex-husband disappears. Her hunt is more than just a simple bounty and there is a lot happening that she is not aware of. This could be one of the most difficult hunts of her career and it is only the beginning.
Mimic and the Space Engineer is the first book in the Space Shifter Chronicles. Higgens is technically a janitor on a mining vessel, but the truth is he has the best job in the galaxy. His world gets turned upside down when he discovers a new and unknown alien species. He makes a new friend and hopes to help build her a new home, but in order to do so he’ll need to make some unlikely alliances.
The Jack Forge, Fleet Marines series begins with Recruit. Jack Forge is taken from a life in academia and put into the Fleet Marines. The Chitin attack leads to him being apart of a war that he never wanted anything to do with. The only way out of this is to win the war and Forge will do whatever it takes to do so.
