The story is set on Belle Island, where three friends, Susan, Julie and Tally, assist each other through trials, triumphs, love and loss. Reed is grieving and can’t find a way of forgiving himself, but the three friends bring him out of his shell.

He has never discussed his loss and sorrow and every time he remembered the incident, he became withdrawn and didn’t want to stay near Julie.

The Island had a beach and shells where a myth was made about making a wish with the shells and tossing them on the beach.

Julie and Reed don’t believe in the Wishing with a shell thing but wonder if their belief could turn around through the challenges they experience one day.
Wish Upon a Shell is an easy read with an idyllic setting as characters with security and trust issues look for a way to resolve them. It’s so admirable how the three ladies stick together, helping each other when need be. It’s a thick and thin friendship, often giving each other moral and sisterly support.
Kay Correll uses her wonderful descriptive skills to give details about the characters and scenes. Character development is well done, adding flesh to the story as the reader can know everyone and who they really are.

The Shop on Main
The Shop on Main is the first instalment in the Comfort Crossing series. After Bella Amaud learns her business and her home with two boys are about to be repossessed under her nose, she becomes desperate.

Bella had rebuilt her life after her divorce and has managed to give her boys a better life. She lives above her shop on the Main Street and has been having a dramatic truce with her ex while sharing custody of the children

As she struggles to keep her delicate financial security and independence, she is in fear because she may end up losing more than her home and The Shop on Main. Everything is taking a different direction, unlike how Bella planned and soon realizes that the man she is attracted to is the businessman and the mastermind of all her problems.

She has been informed that the store has been sold and she’ll have to look for somewhere else to live with her sons. She feels helpless since she can’t afford somewhere else and soon finds out that Owen is the buyer of the building.

Owen Campbell is in town for personal reasons and ends up disrupting her life. He has always wished to belong somewhere in his entire life. After deciding to give his long-lost brother Jake his birthright, he unknowingly prevents his hope of a place where he can call his own.

Everything isn’t working as Owen planned, and neither his brother Jake nor Bella wants anything to do with him. How will Owen have Jake and his mother accept his help? Can a man used to always being in control and a woman dedicated to doing everything for herself find happiness together?

In the novel, Bella and her friends navigate through heartaches and triumphs of love in the small town of comfort crossing in Mississippi. Correll did a superb job in delightfully describing the town with its shops, trees, cobblestone streets, diners and café.

The story revolves around three women, Bella, Jenny and Becky, who grew up together and later became best friends. Even though the story is based on an independent woman who sets herself free from her manipulative ex-husband, she proves that life can be challenging and rewarding.

Obstacles are all over her life, all due to her new romantic interest, the first since they signed the divorce, and her ex-husband married his mistress. She still gave in to her ex’s control regarding their boys but only did it for the sake of peace.
