Dave Daren is an author best known for his legal thriller novels which he has been writing since 2018. In his other life, he is a semi-retired patent and tax lawyer which perhaps explains why there is hardly any information about him online. The name Dave Daren is a pseudonym that he took up when he decided to become a legal thriller novelist. He has always loved reading legal thrillers but often ran into the fact that most authors who wrote them lacked deep knowledge of legal practices which did not make for entertaining reading. He hated how most cases would end in settlements rather than go to trial and hence he thought he could throw his hat in the ring and write some pulpy and fun stories that were closer to the real thing.
He is perhaps most popular for the Sedona Law series of novels which debuted with Sedona Law in 2018. The series of novels now has at least half a dozen novels. In addition to the Sedona Law series, Daren is also the author of several other legal thrillers. Some of the books he has published include the JAG Lawyer series, Longhorn Law series, The Investigator series, John Stone Law series, and the Mob Lawyer series. Dave has also published a bunch of single-standing novels starting with A Famously Bad Contract which he published in 2021. He is thus one of the most versatile and innovative novelists to write in the genre. In the legal thriller industry, Dave Daren’s works have received much critical acclaim. Many of the experts who have reviewed his books have praised them for how they portray legal proceedings in a very realistic manner. This is perhaps due to his experience as an attorney or maybe because he does a lot of research before writing his novels.
Dave Daren published his first story Mob Lawyer in 2018. The work is best described as a combination of The Firm and The Godfather to make for an entertaining and very interesting story. The lead in the novel is Hunter Morgan, who hates working at the White Bread Corporate Law Firm, as he feels stuck but needs the job to pay his student loans. His firm loves to take on Pro Bono work and Hunter volunteers to take on the cases. He has just offered to work on the case of a man who is being charged with causing bodily harm to a police officer. It is not long before he realizes that his client is the son of a Don in the Mafia. Soon enough, Hunter finds himself treading the thin line between illegal and legitimate organizations. He also comes to realize that just about everyone including the District Attorney and the Police Department can be bought for the right price. With some great dialogue, settings, and excellent plot progression, Dave Daren has written a brilliant crime thriller.
Dave Daren published Mob Lawyer II his second novel of the Mob Lawyer series in 2020. In this one, Hunter Morgan is working for the Mafioso after he quit his corporate law firm job. When he took the job, he thought he would be taking glamorous business trips to the Tuscan countryside or Sicily. However, he finds himself sent to a backwater town in West Virginia to close a boring deal when all along, he thought he would be negotiating with high-powered businessmen from New York. But even though it is a small town, he finds that the people he is dealing with are just as corrupt and dangerous as the criminals and government officials in New York. It is an incredible story with ups and downs that make for an incredible unputdownable story.
Dave Daren’s Mob Lawyer 3 is just as fulfilling as the first two novels of the Mob Lawyer series. A few years back, what Hunter Morgan did would have made him to be referred to as a consigliere. However, in the modern day, he loves to pretend that he is just a very specialized lawyer. In the present, he has been tasked with getting a corrupt District Attorney out of office since he has been taking money and working for a rival Mafia group. In the old days, the man would probably have been beaten or worse. However, what Hunter is planning is a dark horse political campaign for his organization’s preferred candidate. But he needs to do that without their rivals, the media and powers that be getting a whiff of their plans. Still, since he is working for the mob, failure is not an option.
