Before Gene Koon transitioned to writing thrillers, he had an extensive and diverse career in broadcast television. He began at a small-market station, where he wrote commercials, operated cameras, and directed the news. This early experience laid the foundation for his future in media. Over the next decade, he worked with several national and international documentary crews, traveling the globe from the depths of the Amazon jungle to the frigid expanse of the Arctic Circle. During his travels, Koon had the opportunity to interview a wide range of influential figures, including tech giants like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk, as well as international leaders such as Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, American hostage Terry Anderson, and iconic astronauts Alan Shepard and Buzz Aldrin.

Koon later spent another decade directing the Yugoslavian war crimes trials for the United Nations in The Hague. His work during this period included coverage of several historic trials, including those of Radovan Karadzic and Slobodan Milosevic.

Now represented by Liza Royce Associates, Gene Koon has released his thriller Another Try.
