Russ Hudson is a published author best known for his best-selling Enneagram series.
Over the past three decades, Russ Hudson has been able to establish himself as being one of the top teachers and developers of the Enneagram personality typology in the world today. To wit, he has been writing and teaching on a full time basis with The Enneagram Institute in addition to his own since 1991.
He has also written books on the subject along with Don Richard Riso, co-authoring five best selling books revolving around this. This includes The Wisdom of the Enneagram and Personality Types. These books are widely considered not only to be groundbreaking contributions to the field of Enneagram studies, but also as important contributions to the literature of psychological type.
Besides all of the books and the teaching, Russ has also worked for several years to develop a scientifically-validated test instrument, the Riso-Hudson Type Indicator (RHETI), which is now considered a standard test in the Enneagram field.
Russ originally encountered the Enneagram through the Gurdjieff Work. He sees it as a map for personal development and awareness more than just a system for categorizing people. He has also emphasized the importance of cultivating presence and mindfulness as a foundation for authentic work with the Enneagram and has worked to align the study of the Enneagram and spiritual practice and bring their mutual benefit into the greater public awareness.
Personality Types: Using the Enneagram for Self-Discovery is book written by Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson. This is the definitive guide to using this ancient psychological system to gain self knowledge and achieve personal growth, which has also been expanded and revised over the years.
The Enneagram serves as an extraordinary framework for people to understand more about ourselves. No matter what point of view you approach it from, you can discover fresh conjunctions of new and old ideas.
This is what Don Riso writes in this expanded edition of his classic interpretation of the Enneagram. The Enneagram is an ancient psychological system that was used to understand the human personality. In addition to updating the descriptions of the nine personality types, Personality Types greatly expands the accompanying guidelines and for the first time is able to uncover the Core Dynamics, or Levels of Development, that exist within each type.
This basic system provides far more information about the inner tension and the movements of the nine personalities than what has bee published before. This increased specificity will allow therapists, personnel managers, social workers, students of the Enneagram, and readers who pick up the book alike to use it with much greater precision as they work to unlock the secrets of self-understanding and then self-transformation.
Even Tony Schwartz, fellow author of What Really Matters, has commented that no other Enneagram teachers that he has come across are able to offer such a dynamic and rich picture of how each personality type expresses it in the world. Check out this book to see what he and thousands of others have seen in this book and maybe learn something!
