In the first scene of this novel, the unnamed narrator meets a writer named Ciaran. The writer is magnetic and even though it is against her better judgment, she falls completely into his power.

They have a short all consuming romance but after that Ciaran quickly rejects her, which puts her into a tailspin of obsession and longing. If the writer ever decides to come back to her, she promises herself that she is going to hang onto him as well as his love, at all costs, no matter if it is too much for her or destroys her.

At times a confession, at other times a critique, this novel shows a consciousness split between such things as rebellion and submission, escaping degradation and eroticizing it, between being lovable and loving itself. The author dives into the question of what it is that we want and how do we want it?

A fascinating new story from a fierce new voice in fiction, this novel takes on the nature of desire, of fantasy, of power, and challenges the reader to deal with our ourselves as well. Check it out yourself to follow along from start to finish!

Sometimes when you take a closer look behind the headlines, you find that everyone has a story that they can tell. When a child of ten years old is suspected of taking on a violent crime, her family has to face up against the truth about their past in this propulsive and haunting story that deals with trauma, class, and family secrets.

The year is 1990 and the place is London. Tom Hargreaves has everything that he could want. He has a great career as a reporter, he has his own ambition and he has a disregard for the peasants, which means his readers, ordinary people, those who make up tabloid fodder.

It appears that his star may be on the rise when he finds his away across a scoop. This would be a dead child on a London estate, his sad parents who were beloved in the neighborhood, and the air of suspicion being cast on a reclusive family of Irish immigrants who are apparently bad apples, the Greens.

At the center of it is Carmel. She is a beautiful woman who is from another world, who is broken and has been destined once for a future that was waiting for her beyond her circumstances. That was until life and love managed to both get in her way.

Now Carmel has been crushed by failure, surrounded by disappointment. There is no place for her to go and no real way to escape. Now the police are getting closer to a suspect. The tabloids are out looking for their monster. It’s time at last for Carmel to take on the silence and the secrets that have suppressed her family for so long. Will she be successful? Read this book to find out.
