Emma attended and graduated from Seattle University, Simon Fraser University, and the University of British Columbia. She resides in Gibsons, British Columbia where she loves all the ocean wildlife and where she is an amateur violinist. She loves the British countryside and the villages and continues to write cozy mystery stories that keep her writing about characters who work and live there (and constantly run into mysteries).
Under the name of Marion Crook, she released a memoir that was on the BC Bestsellers’ list continuously for a year and received the 2022 Lieutenant-Governor’s Community History Award.
Hazards in Hampshire is the first book in the British Book Tour Mystery series by Emma Dakin. This story introduces readers to the main character of Claire Barclay for the first time.
When Claire gets an invitation to tea and responds to it, the last thing that she anticipated was that her hostess would be discovered murdered. On top of that, she is the primary suspect. It is so overwhelming for her, from the new house and village and friends to now the new experience of witnessing a murder.
She will do her best to cope, as she always manages to do, but it’s likely going to be difficult. Claire has now come back to England after inheriting a decent amount from her stepfather. She’s traveled for years but now she has come back home so that she can start her business, which she has named British Mystery Book Tours.
She’s also come back to connect once more with Deidre, her barrister sister. But the village is soon all roiled up thanks to Claire finding a murdered person as well as an arson case that went on nearby. It seems like it’s all related to the book club in town, where the victim was the president. Was there someone out there who disliked her to the extent that they wanted to poison her? Is Claire going to be targeted for the crime just because she’s new in town?
Follow along with everything that happens by getting a copy of Hazards of Hampshire and finding out what Claire Barclay does about this situation!
Crime in Cornwall is the second book in the British Book Tour Mystery series by Emma Dakin. If you thought that the first mystery book in this series was cozy and engaging, keep the adventures coming and follow along with Claire Barclay once more by checking out this sequel.
Claire is enjoying some well deserved peace, but it all gets disrupted when her neighbor wants her to contend with a body he has found in his garden. Patrick is a publisher in London and while he is not Claire’s favorite person in the world, she also doesn’t believe like the police do that he was the one to kill this successful author.
Claire runs a successful tour service that caters to tourists and mystery novels, not just murdered authors. However, even though she loves justice, her sense of justice also requires action. Claire is going to have to work hard to get to the bottom of this case, that is for sure.
If you have a passion for England, you are going to be a fan of these books. Claire once again finds herself involved in crimes when Paul pulls her in, and this time she has her work more than cut out for her. Oliver Nott is dead, and now Claire has to prove what happened if Paul and his wife are not going to get in trouble for the death of an author that belongs to their publishing house.
It looks bad that the author was killed in their own back garden, that is for certain. Claire sees that Oliver has been murdered, but who did it if not her neighbor? Cornwall is a wonderful place, but it is a place that the deceased writer in this story is never going to see again.
With a full cast of characters and a robust plot, the readers of this book will eagerly follow along and turn the pages to get to the end and find out what happened. Find yourself absorbed in a cozy mystery story that will have you staying up late at night to get to the end and follow along with the protagonist Claire as she works to get to the bottom of a murder most foul in Cornwall!
Grab a copy of Crime in Cornwall by Emma Dakin to discover what happens along the way and at the conclusion of this story. As cozy mysteries go, this is one that you won’t want to miss.
