Publication Order of Edinburgh Murder Mysteries Books

Belfast native Heath Savage has lived in London, Brussels, Edinburgh, Los Angeles, and Sydney. She read History and English Literature at the University of Stirling in the 1980s, and worked across a range of disciplines – magazine publishing, hospitality, vocational education, and social services.

In 2018 she finally abandoned city life, and settled in a village in rural Galicia, to write full time. She has since published popular articles, featuring ex-pat life in Spain, in several international English language newspapers, she has contributed prize-winning prose and poetry to The Good Life in Galicia anthology, and delivered a series of lectures and writing workshops at the government Escuela Oficial de Idiomas in the nearby town of Montforte de Lemos. Heath also edits crime fiction novels written by new authors.

Heath drew on real events from her Edinburgh years to produce a confronting debut novel, which was published in 2021, titled Festival of Death. The grittier sequel, Dancing with the Dead, was published in 2024. Both books continue to receive five-star reviews. The third book in the Edinburgh Murder Mysteries trilogy is titled: Death Lies on Her. Scheduled for publication in December 2025, the theme of this finale returns to the backdrop of the Edinburgh Festival, and it also paves the way for a series of spin-off novellas, featuring the enigmatic and icy Detective Chief Inspector Cate McKay and her unique team.

Heath’s current projects include a collection of her own favourite recipes, interspersed with the cherished family recipes of village women, combined in a unique travel memoir, decorated with some of Heath’s photographs and sketches of local landscapes and people. And another murder mystery is on the way, of course, set in Glasgow and Galicia, introducing a new cast of characters. Heath’s first foray into historical fiction, with a WWII romance-mystery, is themed in modern-day Edinburgh and occupied Paris of the 1940s. Both books are scheduled for publication in 2026. Heath also writes a monthly blog, Casa Girasol: Living la Vida Dulce. The blog is a real labour of love, and deeply personal – an eclectic collection of her random observations and thoughts about Life, blended with a more serious spiritual and social commentary.
