Everything seems like it is going fine but then things get turned completely upside down for him when his nanny quits. He knows right away that he’s got to find someone who can fill the position. His family seems to think that they already have the ideal candidate picked out for him, and they tell him so. They think that Wendy Darling would be the best fit for the job. Could they be right?

The only issue with this is that Wendy used to be engaged to his brother. Now she’s working as an elementary school teacher, and she has the summer free. Jasper thinks that this might be the worst idea ever to hire her on as staff, but his family is convinced that it’s a great fit. Once she gets started, Jasper finds out that they were right. Wendy is fitting in with everyone, and even better than Jasper could have predicted.

Once she’s there and integrated into everything, Jasper is pleased to find out that Wendy is actually nothing like what he thought she would be like. She is sweet, a woman who is not only kind but up for adventure. She also has a wonderful laugh that is able to push all of his worst nightmares away, making for a soothing force and presence.

Not only that, but she’s able to handle all of his silence and see through to Jasper’s true self. She’s actually able to see him more clearly than anyone has been able to throughout the years. Her appeal and charm is also rubbing off on his son, who at six years old seems to be just as much a fan of the woman as his father is coming to be.

Despite all of this, Jasper is convinced that being close with her will never happen. He’s acutely aware that she used to be engaged to his own younger brother, so he sees her as off limits. It’s also complicated by the fact that she has become so close to his small family. On top of all of this, Jasper realizes that the small coastal town’s makeup makes it ripe for gossip, and getting together would no doubt be a huge source of gossip for all of the locals.
