Linda H. Codega is a successful published author.

Motheater is an early novel from Linda H. Codega. It is not always the case that a supernatural story combines with ‘queer fantasy’ to make its own unique genre, but for readers who have been starved for exactly this type of story (or just want something new and original to read), this is a refreshing change of pace that they will be sure to appreciate.

Set in the Appalachian Mountains in the state of Virginia, the last remaining witch of the Ridge has got to choose sides when nature and industry come up against each other. Readers, meet main character Benethea Mattox (also known as Bennie).

Bennie’s friend passing away in a coal mine ends up changing quite a bit and meaning more when it comes to her own life. She’s filled with grief, but she’s also determined to do something about it. She gives up her job and her relationship as well as her reputation, all so that she can get to the bottom of what is taking out miners on Kire Mountain.

Bennie discovers a half drowned white woman in a mine slough and ends up taking her in and taking care of her. She mostly does this because she feels that it is the right thing to do, and so she is obligated to do it. But she also is hoping that this unusual stranger with a magnetic presence will be able to take her to the proof that she requires. Instead of that happening, more questions come up.

The woman known as Motheater is not able to recollect her real name. Nor is she able to properly remember how it was that she came to be inside of the mountain. All that she knows is that she is a witch of Appalachia and has power inside of her with Scripture on her tongue.

The mystery of her destiny as well as her quest to keep industry from Kire Mountain as well as the promises that she ended up bending and breaking have been able to follow her somehow, now a century and a half into the future. Now the choices that Bennie and Motheater make together may just end up changing the town’s face for good. Is this a good thing, or are things about to only get more complicated from here? Pasha the Storm is a fictional book by Linda H. Codega. This is yet another queer fantasy story full of adventure and also including political intrigue, piracy, and the eternal souls of the drowned. If this sounds right up your alley, grab a copy and find new worlds explored on every page!

A pirate queen who has been exiled is looking for a killer while on the high seas. At the same time, she finds herself caught between an empress hungry for power and a revolutionary who is plotting to end her reign.

Once upon a time, back in the day and a long time ago, Pasha the Northern Storm was the most infamous Meridian pirate to sail the sister oceans. But times change, and things go ahead and change along with them. Pasha is about a decade into being exiled and as if things could not be any worse, her afterlife is being held hostage!

Holding her afterlife hostage is none other than a man named Atle. He’s a noble who is more attractive than most and he also knows quite a bit when it comes to pirate magic. However, he does not quite know enough about sailing to start to understand just how dangerous Pasha might really be. This could be his undoing.

Minister Atle Itaavar is bound by duty to have to serve the Kingdom of Garda. However, Queen Thivaldis is putting together support for her empire ambitions. Atle needs to stop her and is even willing to turn to treason to do it.

However, if he wants to destroy the Queen’s new necromantic navy, he’s going to have to follow through on what is a complicated plan that sounds easier to accomplish than it really is. He wants to steal the flagship of the Queen, get a washed up pirate to get on board and sail it (by kidnapping them), and find a legendary killer whale to help bring all of it down.

The hunt for the whale ends up bringing not just Pasha but Atle and the Dog screw into a cosmic reckoning. Contending with threats from gods and ghosts, with the Queen of Garda following not far behind, can they find their way out of this chaos? Or will they get dragged down with it under the weight of forces they cannot fight? Read this book from Linda H. Codega to find out!
