She was born in the mountains but ended up growing up in a desert area. Kara was happy to spend the majority of her childhood going swimming, going boating, and making up stories in her own head.
Kara currently resides in Mesa, Arizona. There she likes to split her time between baking, writing, and spending quality time playing board games or doing different things with her husband and their three sons. She also spends a fair amount of time wishing for rain.
The author is known for writing romantic comedy stories for teens and adults. She is the author of several stand alone books as well as a series, the Prince & The Apocalypse series.
The Prince & The Apocalypse is the first book in the series by the same name by Kara McDowell. The end of the world meets romance in this fascinating and original fictional book that you won’t want to miss. Grab a copy of this book and find yourself transported into another world, far away from all your worldly cares and concerns for a time, and whisked into a magical adventure!
When an American teen gets stranded in London, it ends up in unintended consequences. She wants to make it back home, but in order to do so she is going to have to team up with the British crown prince. She’s going to have to get creative if she wants to get back home before the end of the world happens.
Wren Wheeler has made it five thousand miles and flown across the ocean and only is just finding out the news that she is the type of traveler that just wants to go home once she gets there. The trip that she took to London her senior year was intended to change her life. By the time that the last day arrives, her perfectly lined out itinerary has completely gone up in flames. The only thing left to do is to have breakfast at The World’s End restaurant, which is something that she might actually be able to do.
It seems to only make sense when she gets there that the restaurant has been closed for renovations. But there also happens to be a boy there as well who is very cute. He has a posh accent that rolls right off his tongue and seems to have a striking resemblance to Prince Theo, who is running away for the moment not only from the palace but from his mother, who is very controlling.
Wren helps this young man get away from the pack of tourists and it turns out that he actually is the prince. The Prince writes down his number in gratefulness and offers to give her a favor as thanks for what she has done. While she has no plans to actually cash this favor in, once she gets to the airport and sees all of the madness and the canceled flights, she starts to reconsider.
Apparently a comet is coming towards the Earth and if the predictions are correct, the world is scheduled to end in eight days. All of a sudden it seems like an extreme stroke of good luck that she had run into the young royal at all. The favor that he owes her could be the one shot that she has at getting back and being home with her family before the end of the world happens.
Wren comes up with an idea to strike a deal with the prince. She’ll see him to his family’s compound in Santorini and act as his bodyguard from London if he will get her a private jet to go home so that she can say goodbye to her family.
She goes through Europe on all types of vehicles, from train to boat to stolen car. She finds herself pulled more and more along the way to the sarcastic and adorable Theo. She’s slowly starting to fall for the Prince, but he has an agenda of his own that could potentially throw all of his plans off. Life as they are familiar with it might be ending in a few days, but can they find a way to live happily ever after anyway? Read this romance to find out!
Heir, Apparently is the second book in The Prince & The Apocalypse series by Kara McDowell. If you thought the first book was a fun combination of adventure, romance, and the end of the world, keep the apocalyptic feelings flowing by picking up this sequel.
A teenager in America finds out that she might have married the King of England, and then winds up on a tropical island with him to boot. Wren Wheeler is dealing with the stresses of freshman year, which has been tough enough without being married to royalty. She can’t really vent to her classmates at Northwestern about it, though. Everyone’s dealt with too much excitement already after making it through the almost-apocalypse over the summer.
Wren understands that she needs to move on from Theo. But she also can’t manage to forget the look he had in his eyes when he decided to leave her on that Greek island. He took her dog, too!
She tries to get Comet back but then it all ends up turning into a reunion with Theo that is captured by the paparazzi. Wren finds that she is once again back under the royal spotlight and is a problem that the firm needs to be solved. To get protection from the press, she’ll just have to fly back with Theo to London. Coming with them will be Naomi, Brooke, and Theo’s siblings, which includes his brother Henry.
The universe just does not feel like letting the newlyweds have a conversation in peace, and because of that their plane ends up going down over the Atlantic. It ends up crashing down on an island located in the middle of nowhere.
Now that they’re stranded, the group is going to have to come together to face horrible injuries, poisonous animals, a brotherly rivalry, and even a volcano. While attempting to get out of there alive, Wren and Theo may end up confronting their feelings for each other and figuring out what they would like their futures to be. Will they get together or leave love behind? Read this book from Kara McDowell to find out!
