Return to Darkness is a 2011 book by Michael Laimo. If you have been looking for an interesting book to read, this book does not disappoint. It picks up where Deep in the Darkness left off. If you love something that is going to keep you up late at night finishing it (and that might keep you up late at night thanks to its creepiness), check out this thriller for yourself.
Main character Dr. Michael Cayle has come back from near death so that he can rescue his daughter and his wife, who have been taken by the Isolates and are now captives. The Isolates are the aboriginal creatures who live behind his home in the woods. Is he going to find them alive, dead, or something worse than that?
Anything is possible, and he’s going to do anything that he can to get his wife and daughter back. Whether he lives to survive and tell the tale is another matter. Check out the book that authors like Douglas Preston are saying is ‘creepy, atmospheric, and explosive’ and that Gary Braunbeck says is one of ‘the best and most refreshing horror novels you’re likely to read’ and see what you think!
Missed Connection is a 2024 book by Michael Laimo. New York Times bestselling author Wendy Corsi Staub has called this a ‘taut page turner’, praising the premise, first-person narrative, and twists.
Main character Peter Delmonico is a New York City Fashion Executive who has not always had the easiest life. Unfortunately, it didn’t really get any better or improve much. He was physically abused by his father when he was younger and abused mentally by his wife once he grew up.
Peter sees little choice but to allow his inner demons to help him make his way through life. He’s been obsessed with photography for a long time and so one time takes a detour in the afternoon into Bryant Park in NYC. There he takes a photo of a gorgeous woman who bumps into him. She surprises him by kissing him and then goes into the crowd and is gone just as suddenly as she arrived.
Peter wants to bring real love into his life because he really felt something in that moment. He takes off on his own personal journey to go through the city to try and find her. The only real lead that he has in the end is the photo in his camera that he took of her.
This book is a thriller tinged with eroticism and full of twists and turns. No matter where you look, this sexy satirical look at life in Manhattan from a man who just wants to love and be loved has something to offer. Author Ronald Malfi says this novel is as ‘Sleek as a bullet and just as deadly’. Find out whether Peter is able to find this lovely lady or whether something more ominous is in store by getting a copy of Missed Connection!
