E.S. McLeod is a podcaster and a published author.
She has written novels for young adult readers which include Ella McLeod: Rapunzella, Or, Don’t Touch My Hair and has written the book The Map That Led to You. They were published in the United States by Yellow Jacket at Little Bee and by Scholastic in the United Kingdom. The author has also been able to write a picture book for Scholastic, Goldilocs, using the same name.
Ella attended the University of Warwick and graduated first in her class in English literature with Theatre. Now she is fascinated by various bodies in spaces. She is interested in how they are able to change, how they effect change, and how they are affected by different things such as violence, prejudice, and desire. The works that she has done look into different themes such as race, gender, sexuality, and power, and are usually centered around the things and the lengths that people will go to for love.
She is very serious about all these things but also has a lighter side. E.S. can often be discovered being silly about real and mythological animals while serving as the co-host of the Comfort Creatures on the Maximum Fun Network. McLeod resides in South London. She is engaged and lives with her fiancé as well as Princess Persephone, their Bengal cat.
Her book Rapunzella was nominated for the Branford Boase Award. It also received positive reviews in the Irish Times, Kirkus, and the Guardian.
Andromeda is a 2026 book by E.S. McLeod that readers who love original stories will not want to miss. Author Bea Fitzgerald has called it a ‘tender yet fierce reclamation of myth crafted by a masterful hand’. Author Rosie Hewlett has referred to it as ‘nothing short of breath-taking’.
Author Jennifer Saint has called it a ‘compelling novel that quietly stole’ her heart. If you’re in the mood for something very original that fills a rich need in your life for something delectable made of words, check out Andromeda and see what you think of it!
Main character Andromeda has been given unparalleled beauty from the gods and is very much enjoying it. She likes living a life full of ease that takes place inside of the Aethiopian palace walls.
She is very happy with her sanctuary, but the young princess so far has not had to deal with anything outside of the royal expectations her parents hold for her. But that cannot last forever, and one proclamation out there ends up changing everything.
The queen ends up defying the gods with a blasphemous claim, and that puts things into motion. Poseidon is the God of the Seas and gives an ultimatum that ends up putting the life of the Queen into Andromeda’s hands. Poseidon ends up sending the shape-shifting servant Ceto in order to solidify the fate of the princess.
Ceto is not a servant alone. She has a sharp tongue and a heart that is as hard as rocks. As a result, she does not have much interest in the appearance of the princess and has less still when it comes to the games of the gods. Despite this, a tension starts to appear between them and they both start to realize that Andromeda has a type of beauty that is not just a gift but a weapon that can be wielded.
As the judgment of Poseidon comes even closer, the women discover that they are being pulled into something that is a lot more passionate and a lot more dangerous that either of them would have been able to predict. What will happen and will they be happy with what ends up happening? Read this book from E.S. McLeod to find out how it ends in this story that author Samantha Shannon says is ‘imperative that you read’.
