Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson is a published writer known for writing stories in the science and fantasy genre. If you have been looking for a fun voice in fiction to follow along with, check out this author and see what you think!
Esmie spent a lot of her time when she was a child with her books, taking the time to read and flip through the pages while sitting in the sun on beaches in Australia. She would then move to London, which was a big weather switch and where the skies were largely gray and cloudy. Where she used to read on the beach, Esmie now read on the window seat in her grandmother’s home.
The author is a co-founder of Impact of Omission, an organization that has the mission of decolonizing the compulsory curriculum in the United Kingdom. It has been featured in different media publications such as The Times, The Guardian, and The Huffington Post, and has been discussed live on ITV News. She has also made an appearance in “Where’s My History?”, a Channel 4 documentary that was created by Troy Deeney, a Premier League football player.
Esmie has a BA in English Literature and Classical studies. This is the same degree that has helped empower her to write about different topics in essay format such as Disney villains, read a lot of Ancient Greek Lyric poetry, and to argue about post-colonial readings of canonical texts.
She was the inaugural recipient in 2020 of the Future World’s Prize, where she won with the manuscript for ‘The Principle of Moments’. The same manuscript also was shortlisted for the 2018 Penguin WriteNow scheme.
Esmie likes to write about a variety of topics and keep busy with her stories, whether they are about time travel or kids taking down space empires. When not occupied with work, she may be found watching the classic movie Treasure Planet once more or working to try and get the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse into the Louvre.
Her novel Gutterwitch was heavily competed over and ended up being sold to Random House children’s in the United States and to Bloomsbury in the U.K. after going through a nine-way auction. The book was also nominated for Best British and Irish Book in the Tik Tok Book Awards.
Esmie frequently engages with fans of her work across social media. She is also part of the Board of Trustees for a UNESCO City of Literature in the south of England. She has Jamaican, Nigerian, and British-Australian heritage. Much of her writing revolves around characters who are individuals living at the intersection of identities.
Doctor Who: The Moon Cruise is a 2025 book by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson. You may be familiar with Doctor Who having tuned into it on television over the years on the BBC or never have experienced the magical world of Doctor Who before– either way, this is yet another entertaining read that brings all of the fun of the show to life.
Readers can now sign up to take the most amazing cruise in the galaxy today. If you’ve seen the show before, you know that the TARDIS is the space ship that ‘The Doctor’ uses to travel all over the galaxy, to anywhere that he (or she, depending on the season) wants to go in time and space. The Doctor frequently travels with a companion that is human and from Earth at some point in recent history and runs into all types of schenanigans and enemies while also doing their best to try and keep timelines intact and not disrupt too much.
The TARDIS ends up finding itself upon a luxury space liner. The liner is owned by Marilyn Moon, an interstellar shipping magnate. The Moon Cruise provides the opportunities for its wealthy passengers to experience the detailed up close and personal views of the various cosmic wonders of the galaxy as they travel experiencing the best that this service has to offer. It’s no time at all before the Doctor and Belinda are on the top deck and living the high roller life.
However, there is a darker side to this on-board experience. Why does it seem that all of the blonde smiling mannequins have a secret? What goes on with the cruise ship workers when they go off-shift? The Doctor is about to find out that sometimes prisons look a little different than one might expect them to. They don’t all come with bars on the windows to identify them.
Meanwhile, Belinda is also having to deal with one of the most cruel fates that anyone can experience in this life. She’s looking at a contract in retail and hospitality where she gets paid nothing and it can never be broken. Can Belinda get out of this contract, and will she and the Doctor run into any further trouble? Read this adventurous science fiction novel to find out what happens!
Gutterwitch is a 2027 book by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson. Everyone loves a good story that blends fairy tale and fantasy, and this one is so creative and original that it is all but guaranteed to entertain you.

She’s been blessed with the wild magic of a star, and years down the line she finds herself called to make an appearance at a prestigious witching academy. It is there where she finds herself along with Prince Caspar of Fairie, another outcast, at the center of a dark plot and a war among witches. Quickly Joan starts to figure out that there’s a lot going on behind the curtain and there’s a lot more to the world than she thought.
