Dandelion Is Dead(2026)Description / Buy at Amazon

Rosie Storey is a published British author.

She spent her childhood growing up on a farm located in the south of England. Rosie previously worked a corporate career but decided to leave it behind in order to finish her debut novel Dandelion is Dead.

The novel was released in 2026 and is a modern love story that revolves around the type of courage that it can require in order to live once more after going through loss as well as being able to find hope in places that people may not have been anticipating.

Rosie Storey has always been writing stories, ever since she was young, about all types of things. Writing was something that was able to provide her some comfort and happiness as she was often anxious as a child. She also really liked listening to her mother’s music with artists such as Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.

She would listen to storybooks on cassette tape by Roald Dahl when going to bed as a child. The book that made her want to be an author was J.D. Salinger’s ‘The Catcher in the Rye’, and she really enjoyed the novel ‘All Fours’ by Miranda July.

Storey recounts to thenerddaily.com that she faced challenges while writing, as she was attempting to get her first novel published for nearly a decade before it finally found support. The novel was rejected by many agents but she kept going and the book eventually got the green light to debut, with Storey securing a publishing deal with her agent in 2024. She says that even on tough days, she returns to how grateful she is to be there.

Rosie has a Masters degree in Creative Writing. She continues to write and also works as a writing coach. She currently resides in east London and continues to write, so readers will have more to look forward to from this new author on the scene and can grow with her as she puts out more intriguing and original novels for them to enjoy.

Dandelion is Dead is a 2026 novel by Rosie Storey. If you’ve been searching for something that is completely unique but is also going to be the type of book that you want to pick up and not put down until the end, this might be the one for you.

Others have raved about the book, such as the New York Times bestselling author Clare Leslie Hall, who said that the debut novel from Storey is ‘breathtakingly original’ with a premise that is ‘brilliant’ and the story being ‘smart, funny and heartbreaking in equal measure’. Read on to find out the basics of this story and what you can expect from this fresh new voice in fiction’s debut!

Main character Jake was someone who appeared to have fallen hook line and sinker for Dandelion. There’s just one problem with that now in that Dandelion is dead. Her sister Poppy is the one to survive her, and that is who is now interacting with Jake.

Poppy goes onto the dating app last used by her late sister, and there she finds messages from a stranger that have gone unanswered. He’s quite charming, and after seeing them she makes an instinctive choice out of nowhere. She’s going to go out and meet up with him for just one time. Sure he was someone who was interested in and talking to her sister, but she can’t resist the allure.

She’ll meet up with him on what would have been her sister’s fortieth birthday. It is just the kind of wild ride that her sister would have wanted, she reasons, and she is likely right. Dandelion would have encouraged her to go on this type of adventure. Maybe not if she were actively interested in the guy, but still. In a way, Poppy is doing what Dandelion would have wanted her to do.

Then there’s Jake, who is out there to try and find something real. He is highly aware that his ex-wife has decided to move her young boyfriend into the home that they used to share as a family. It’s time for him to not focus on them at all and do his own thing. When he meets a woman who goes by the name of Dandelion, it seems like they have the type of connection that he has been looking for all along.

Once they start talking, it’s as though Jake can think of nothing else but Dandelion. He is convinced that the woman at the other end is the perfect one for him, and never suspects that it might be someone else pretending to be them. Poppy is the one answering the messages and the person that Jake is falling for, and once it starts, she finds it difficult to try and explain that she is not in fact Dandelion at all.

Despite all this, the pair keep chatting and they keep getting into a deeper relationship. Now Poppy is discovering that she is in the middle of a double life that she never intended to make. Each moment that she has with Jake feels like the type of genuine interaction that she has always wanted, full of electricity and feeling right in so many ways.

Even though the relationship is riddled with dishonesty, Poppy has been honest while talking to Jake. She’s been herself. She just happens to be sisters with Dandelion and not Dandelion in actuality. She’s also falling for Jake even as she’s processing her grief for her own sibling. Now she’s having to deal with making a decision where she tries to keep the memory of her sister going through her lies or she comes clean to Jake to try and truly be happy while also being honest.

There’s always a chance that this could all fall apart if she is upfront with Jake. But maybe he can find it in his heart to look past this. Maybe they were meant to be. Can they get together or is this love story going to end in tears? Read Rosie Storey’s debut to find out!
