Ann Claire is an American published author.
She has gotten degrees in geography, and earning them has taken her all over the world. She is married to her geographer husband and they live in Colorado, where the mountains call them from their kitchen windows.
She is frequently busy writing but when she is not busy doing that she can be found gardening, hiking, herding house cats, or sitting down with a good mystery, especially if it’s been written by Agatha Christie.
A Cyclist’s Guide to Crime and Croissants is the first book in the Cyclist’s Guide Mystery series by Ann Claire. If you have been looking for something new and interesting to read, check out this book that takes you along the Mediterranean Coast in an escapist mystery series that features an American expat-turned-bike tour company owner located in southern France.
It was just nine months previous that main character Sadie Greene surprised all of her family and friends and all the other people in her life with a sudden choice that no one saw coming. Sadie decides that it’s time to take a risk and kicks her normal office job in the Chicago suburbs to the curb. She then goes one step further and buys Oui Cycle, a French bicycling tour company that she purchases without having seen it first at all.
It seems like a risk that most people would be second guessing themselves on, but Sadie has nothing to regret so far. Even though the life she is currently living is unconventional, it also happens to be the life of her dreams taking places in Sans-Souci-sur-Mer, a beautiful village. ‘Sans souci’ translates roughly to ‘carefree’.
Sadie is loving her life here, but things stand to get a bit more complicated when people from her old existence show up. Some friends from her hometown have come to take a tour. Among their number is Dom Appleton, her former boss. Despite the pressure that she is feeling to make everything perfect, Sadie vows that she’s going to do her best to show them how great France is and how wonderful cycling can be. More than anything, she wants to show that she made the right move– literally.
Sadie is desperately hoping that the effort that she put into planning their nine day itinerary is going to pay off. If she can win them all over, it will have been worth it. The trip includes seeing beautiful seascapes, enjoying tasting wine, visiting hilltop villages, and stopping off frequently for such must-have items as croissants.
Dom may be not as up for fun as the rest, but Sadie is determined to get the guy to enjoy himself. But it turns out that she may not fully get the chance when Dom turns up dead. It’s a tragedy, but it doesn’t appear to be accidental. It appears that someone out there wanted Dom dead and has brought his excursion overseas to an end.
As more murder starts coming in, the suspicion has reached Oui Cycle. Now Sadie is going to have to go out of her way to protect her business. She’s going to have to take on this case and launch her own investigation if she wants to save her dream business, help out her friends, and bring some type of justice for Dom.
Sadie wants to solve this murder, but the more that she looks, the more that the mysteries are increasing. She’s got her work cut out for her as she takes on this case as an amateur sleuth. On top of that, she also has to contend with her past as she gets continually closer to the truth. Can she figure out who did it or is there a killer out there who is ready to get to her first? Read this mystery to find out!
A Cyclist’s Guide to Villains and Vines is the second book in the Cyclist’s Guide Mystery series by Ann Claire. Readers can make their way through the landscape of northeastern France in this sequel of the series that sees the American ex-pat is still running Oui Cycle and making sure that her French bike tour company is thriving, but will a few twists and turns be too much to handle?
While guiding a group of seniors across Alsace, she anticipated that there would be some challenges, but never did Sadie think that once again she would be dealing with murder. She and her crew at Oui Cycle have a new private group to entertain, and they may be their most discerning and hard to please yet. The group are determined to give them an amazing trip that they won’t be able to forget anytime soon.
It’s going to be difficult, but they think that they can do it. The Silver Spinners are what this group of six seniors call themselves, and they’ve been all over the world and have taken their two wheels to many different places. Sadie wants to impress them since they are so worldly, and to show them the wonderful vineyards, the backdrop of Alsace, delicious food, and impressive architecture.
The group is going to be surprised, but maybe not in the way that Sadie intended. The group runs into trouble right off the bat. A guest collides with a corpse while going on a midnight ride on their own. She says that’s what happened, but no body is discovered. Sadie is hoping that it might have been a bad dream that the rider was having, so she tries to boost the mood by planning a fun day for everyone pedaling their bikes through the vineyards.
But they aren’t too far into the ride before a detour ends with a crash, with a broken wine barrel and a dead man coming out of it. Sadie is still hoping that they can get away from it, but it looks like she’s somehow gotten involved in yet another murder scene again. Then she finds out that the dead body had links to her tour.
Now the Silver Spinners are both prime suspects and key witnesses, and they’re ready to play detective. Caught up in the chaos and trying to clear the name of her guests and her business, Sadie wants to find the person responsible. Can she once more catch a killer, or will they catch her first? Read this mystery from Ann Claire to find out!
