Ashley Jordan is an American published author.
She is not only a writer, but she is also a millennial. She hails from the city of Atlanta, by way of the city of Brooklyn. For higher learning she went to Spelman College, where she got a degree in psychology. She has had a love all her life for women’s stories and has always appreciated them.
Ashley works in public health and has embraced taking on writing as a hobby on the side ever since she wrote her first short story while in second grade. She loves working a day job or writing but when she is not busy doing that, you can find her at a concert, watching Mad Men again, or having an argument about basketball with anyone who wants to listen to her.
She became a Reese’s Book Club LitUp Fellow in 2023. Her debut novel came out in 2025 and is titled Once Upon a Time in Dollywood. The book was extremely well received and became a Reese’s Book Club Pick. It was also an instant bestseller on USA Today and was selected as one of the best books of the year by Audible, Southern Living, Library Journal, Amazon, and NPR.
She has a lot of trivia about herself that she can share with readers, too. She says on her homepage that she is ‘rooting for everybody black’. When asked what her favorite place in the world to be is, she answered her bed, followed by New Orleans. She says that she is obnoxiously millennial due to MTV and Disney raising her.
Ashley admits that she hates to be late, but she also hates being early. She loves the television shows Living Single and Friends. Tuesday is the worst day of the week to her, while Thursdays are the best. Given the choice of getting her favorite meal, she would pick getting some fried wings and pork fried rice from the local Chinese food spot.
When the author was in sixth grade, she won a national spelling bee. She loves television and thinks that the Real Housewives of Atlanta is one of the greatest television shows in existence. She learned how to braid her own hair during lockdown and has been doing it herself ever since then. She also hates pickles.
Once Upon a Time in Dollywood is the debut novel from Ashley Jordan. If you have been wanting something new and original to read and love contemporary romance stories, this is a great selection for you.
A playwright is going to have to deal with her difficult year while also having writer’s block. Meanwhile, she’s dealing with slowly falling for the single dad who lives next door in a debut novel you won’t want to miss.
Main character Eve Ambroise is a competent playwright and is proving to be a rising star in that area. Meanwhile, her personal life is falling apart in just about every way that it can be. She wants more than anything to start over so she decides to break up with her fiancé. She also cuts off her parents and decides to head out to the mountains of Tennessee.
Maintaining the lie that she has gone on a writing retreat starts to become tougher when she is dealing with the townspeople who are nosy but mean well. She also has to contend with a neighbor who, once she starts to talk to them, apparently has just as much baggage as she does.
Dealing with a custody battle for some time that has been fairly contentious, Jamie Gallagher is trying to restructure what life looks for him as a single dad. He’s spending more time at his cabin and that has been making his free time feel a little less empty. Then he meets the woman next door, who is as prickly as she is beautiful. He doesn’t know what to think at first.
The last thing that he feels that he needs in his life is a new romance. That could shake up family dynamics even more than it was already, but something about Eve really reaches out to him. They get involved in a fling but what starts out as something casual quickly turns into something more serious.
It is not much longer before Eve is on her way out and running from it all scared again. She has loved and lost in every way and risking it one more time to put it on the line could end up doing the unthinkable and breaking her. Just as the fireflies that light up the mountains all around them and dance, Jamie and Eve keep finding that their lives are lining up and starting to light up a little too.
A wonderful romantic ending like fairy tales are made of could be on its way for the happy pair. However, the couple are going to have to stop being in their own heads and start putting their hearts first. Can they get vulnerable enough to form a relationship, or will they be too scared to get there? Romance is potentially on the way, but Eve and Jamie are going to have to find the courage within themselves in order to get together. Can they do it? Read this sizzling story from Ashley Jordan to find out!
