His Uncle Guy has arranged a marriage to the daughter of the Earl of Lincoln, a girl who is highly spoiled. The merger will end up putting together two of the biggest fortunes in the land, giving the de Leons huge amounts of power. Hugh’s heart is not with this woman but with the Lady Cristen. He will do all that he can in his power to make her his and this extends to eloping.
His plan seems like it should work but things take a turn when the new Earl of Lincoln is killed and someone accuses a friend of Hugh’s of doing it. Things are now far from ideal. He doesn’t have too much time to get in the way of his uncle’s arrangement but now he can’t just stand by and see an innocent man get hanged wrongfully.
In order to rescue his friend and also get married to the woman that he cares about, Hugh is going to have to work hard if he wants to find a serpent that is as wily as it is deadly. When he takes it by the tail, will he be able to avoid getting bitten by it? Read this book to find out!
