Lauren Fox is a published American author.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the suburbs. Lauren was born into a family that had lots of love and support and not that much drama going on. She says that from an early age she always knew that she wanted to be a writer and she decided that her best bet would be to make things up. Early fiction attempts included a story about a blind Mexican orphan and another story about a horse who dies in a barn fire.

When Lauren got to college, she enrolled in some creative writing classes and found out about writing what you know. So she decided to start putting out stories that were all about the unhappy love lives that the young curly haired girls with thin skin and plenty of sarcasm led. Her first published story was featured in a nationally distributed college magazine and used the structure of the game show ‘Jeopardy!’ to follow along with the demise of a relationship. Lauren recounts that she was happy that she had created fiction from her two favorite pastimes, watching television and obsessively pining over men who are unavailable.

Once college was done Lauren moved around some. She resided in Washington, D.C. and then lived for some time in Madison, Wisconsin. There she did field research for her stories that revolved around women who were in their twenties who were lonely because they could not find a date. While in grad school in Minneapolis, she decided to take a break from fiction and started writing about her family’s history and the Holocaust.

She has had her writing featured in different publications that include Marie Claire, The New York Times, Psychology Today, Parenting, Salon, and The Rumpus.

When Lauren was 26 years old, she met a guy from Dublin who ended her studies of heartbreak and loneliness. She came up with enough material to last her for a while, though. Today she is married and has two daughters with her husband. She lives in Milwaukee with her family.

Days of Awe is a 2015 book by Lauren Fox. Lauren Fox is a woman who is an ‘immensely gifted writer’ according to Michiko Kakutani of The New York Times. She has long been celebrated for her witty and intelligent looks at friendship and marriage. Now she’s written her strongest novel to date.

This is the story of a woman who is dealing with the sudden death of her best friend and now must contend with other issues, such as the crisis in her marriage, the fury of her daughter who is now nearly a teen, and the potential of opening her heart to someone new.

It was just a year ago that Isabel Moore was married and she was seen as the object of adoration for her 10 year old daughter. She thought that when it came to her best friend Josie, she knew everything about that wild and extravagant woman that she loved so well. In the course of one short year, her husband decided that it was time to move out and rent his own apartment. Her daughter became an insomniac with lots of moods and Josie ended up dying while behind the wheel in a single car accident.

The relationships that defined Isabel for so long– best friend, daughter, mother, and wife– are all shifting before their eyes. Now Isabel is going to have to try and figure out at the end of the day who she really is when before it was all figured out for her.

Full of grief, longing, and moments of wild joy, this is an incredible book that is dazzling in many ways and entertaining and emotive in others. Whether taking on being a mother, marriage, or the shape of new love, this is an intriguing book that covers a lot of topics and will have readers hooked from start to finish.

Send for Me is a 2021 book by Lauren Fox. This is a historical fiction book that moves between Germany right before World War 2 and Wisconsin in the present day, following along with themes of love, longing, and family. If you’ve been looking for something new to add to your must-read list, this might just be the book for you.

Annelise is a woman who is a dreamer. She’s been imagining the future all while working at her parents’ bakery in Feldenheim, Germany. She’s been anticipating all of the possibilities in the future that are yet to come. There are rumors out there that anti-Jewish sentiment is rising, but Annelise and her parents can’t believe that it will affect them because they aren’t that religious.

Annelise starts to fall in love and gets married and gives birth to her daughter. But despite all of this, the dangers are coming ever closer and things are getting more intense and dangerous with every passing day. A brick gets thrown through her window, and a friend from childhood cuts her off completely. Customers are even refusing to support the bakery.

Annelise and her husband get the chance to go to America. But if they’re going to leave, they are going to have to leave her parents behind, to a future that is anything but certain and with the question of their safety lingering.

Now it’s been two more generations in a small Midwestern city. Annelise has a granddaughter named Clare who is a young woman who is freshly in love. When she finds a collection of her grandmother’s letters from Germany, she sees the history of the sacrifices that her family has made in a new light.

Now she must deal with the choice of selecting the past of her future. This incredible novel is a great read no matter what genres you love, but is a particular gem for those who enjoy historical fiction.
