Princess Auden is the last princess who remains in Sorrowfeld. When it happens to be her twelfth birthday, her gift will be to take on the dragons that took her family and vanquish them. Mae’s an artist who has been living under the shadow of one painting that years ago made her famous. The success of it has come to define her while also confining her at the same time.

Sydney and Mae have come back into each other’s lives and they each are expecting a baby girl to come into their worlds at some point. Their connecting again feels like it was destined to occur. Each of them starts to pull the other away from the influence of those on the outside that want things from them– marketing schemes, motherhood groups, artistic pressures, and even former boyfriends.
