Once this happens it seems like everything falls apart for Meryn. Meryn really wants to cross the front so that she can rescue her sister. Meryn signs up for the army and is put into the Bonding Trials. Any mistake that she makes there could end up being deadly. If she makes an error, she pays with her life.

Now Meryn has to go to the castle and make it through four months of training. She gets tied to a feral direwolf who doesn’t want to communicate. The other trainees really want to spill her blood and show how common she really is. Then there’s Stark Therion, her instructor, both beautiful and cold at the same time. He is on the lookout for weakness and intends to punish it out of the one who shows it.

Everything there is a competition and it seems like just about everyone who is there is out to get her. There is one exception to this mentality, and that is the crown prince. He is very handsome, to the point where it’s dangerous. But getting attention from him just makes her an even bigger target. Every friendly face here could be hiding a knife behind their back. Not to mention that the halls themselves are hiding some dark secrets.

Through this, it’s duel or die or bond or bleed. To fail is to fall into ruin and be lost forever. Can Meryn make it through and will Stark Therion be waiting for her on the other side? Anything’s possible in this spicy romantasy story from Sable Sorensen.
