Murder on Millionaires’ Row is the first book in the Rose Gallagher series by Erin Lindsey. If you are someone who loves that perfect summer read or just want to enjoy something that is light but full of entertaining mystery, this might be the perfect novel for you.

Erin takes readers on a chase that goes through Gilded Age Manhattan. This story is full of great historical details, romance, ghosts, and Pinkerton detectives in this story that is sure to appeal to any fan of the mystery genre.

Main character Rose Gallagher is someone who has always dreamed that she would achieve bigger things. Regardless, she is happy with her simple existence living as a housemaid. It’s not every single girl who comes from Five Points that has the chance to spend their days living in a brownstone of Fifth Avenue– even if it’s because she’s the one who is sweeping the floors.

All of that suddenly shifts on the day that her boss Mr. Thomas Wiltshire goes missing. Rose thinks for sure that he is in trouble but the police are treating this disappearance as just the whims of a young man with wealth who is behaving poorly. At the same time, the friend who reported him missing is being unhelpful to the degree that it’s starting to become suspicious.

Rose no longer has anywhere left to turn and so she decides to take it upon herself in order to track down her young employer (who she also perceives as being very handsome). This investigation will end up taking her from Fifth Avenue’s marble palaces to the streets of Five Points. But when a ghostly apparition on the street accosts her, Rose starts to wake up and start to realize that the world around her isn’t what it seems.

On top of that, as if that weren’t enough, the place that she holds in it stands on the brink of changing forever. Can she adapt to her new realizations or will she find it all too much to handle? Can she track down her employer and preserve her job, or is Rose in over her head? Read this book to find out!

A Golden Grave is the second book in the Rose Gallagher series by Erin Lindsey. If you thought that the first book in this series was engaging, check out this historical mystery that follows along with main character Rose Gallagher as she works to track down a killer with abnormal abilities in Manhattan in the Gilded Age.

Rose is someone who always wanted to find adventure. She’s now started a new life as a Pinkerton agent and she thinks that it should be all that she ever wanted. It was just a few months previous where she was just living as a poor Irish housemaid from Five Points. Now things have turned around as she is learning how to do things such as shoot a gun and dance the waltz or even take a fully-grown man and put him over her shoulder.

Even better than this is the fact that Rose has been recruited to join the special branch. This is an elite unit that is dedicated to cases of a paranormal nature. That might just mean that she ends up spending her days along Thomas Wiltshire, a handsome man.

However, being a Pinkerton might just be something a lot different from what Rose pictured in her head. Not everyone who lives there wants to take her into the fold and welcome her. At the same time, her older friends don’t really know what they think of the new Rose. Even Thomas appears to be rethinking his junior partner.

Then a new case comes to Rose, and she sees the chance to prove herself. But once she takes it on, she just ends up realizing that these stakes are a lot higher than anything that she could have imagined. Six delegates at a local political convention have been murdered. On top of that, the cops don’t have any idea who is responsible– or what.

The only thing that seems clear is that the next target appears to be a candidate running for NYC mayor– Theodore Roosevelt. Rose and Thomas know that something supernatural is going on. Now they’re going to have to track down the killer before Roosevelt is removed from the race and life itself.

But even though they’ve taken on killers and cases before, it soon becomes apparent that this killer is different from any of the other killers that they have taken on. Hunting this murderer down is going to lead them on a wild goose chase that takes them a variety of places, from ballrooms to brownstones to saloons. The going is tough, but this team is determined to do what it takes to put this killer away.

Rose is not very comfortable with this case but she wants to see it through to the end. She’s also going to have to contend with her own place in society, how it has changed, and the fact that there are people out there that would do whatever they can to see her removed from it. What will happen and can she survive the closing of this case?
