Craig Briggs is a published author known for his nonfiction work.

He was born July 12, 1962, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Huddersfield. He was the only son (but second child) to his parents, and his arrival would complete the family. However, Craig was born slightly different from other children as he was born with congenital feet deformities.

Craig was not aware of his disability and so went on with his life. His first birthday brought him special footwear that would change everything, giving him independence and freedom. Now he was able to be on the move and would let nothing hold him back.

Over the course of the next five years, more surgical procedures would change the way that he moved. His mind ended up being sharp but academia was not really his strength as Craig found it difficult to concentrate on things that did not interest him. This led to him leaving college in 1980 and entering the market for employment.

Craig signed on to receive unemployment benefit and spent the summer watching Wimbledon on television. Pressure to find work grew and in September he saw a job card that wanted trainee retail managers at the Job Center.

With many other interested in the positions available, Craig was selected after an interview. He went through a two week training course that he passed and became an assistant manager, choosing to work in London. He left Huddersfield in October 1980 and would return later a wiser and more mature man. He spent some time catching up on lost youth, meeting the love of his life and his future wife during this time, a lady named Melanie.

He worked in retail for over six years with five different companies. However, he thought that to realize his dream he would have to go on his own. He handed in his notice not long after his 26th birthday believing that his future was in leather jackets, but no one shared in his vision and his aspirations fell apart. Faced at returning to retail, he took a different path.

He went for a compromise and became a self-employed agent for one of the largest insurance companies in the nation. The job title was that of financial consultant, but this exaggerated his role, which was more that of an insurance salesman. Briggs did his best to survive in the industry and even learned some valuable lessons along the way.

Craig finally got his big break when he was asked if he would like to invest in a printing business. The first year had more losses than sales, but he re-mortgaged his home and bought an equal stake. Thirteen years later, he owned a modestly successful business and decided the time was right to start his own journey to a dream.

He started his writing career in 2004, the same year that he was asked to write a weekly column for an online magazine. He has since written some articles for the Trinity Mirror Group as well as online publications like My Destination, Insiders Abroad, and CNN. His travel memoir Journey to a Dream would be published in 2013 and has since been added to.

Craig is not only an author but a winemaker who owns his own small vineyard.

Journey to a Dream is a 2013 book and the first book in the Journey series by Craig Briggs. Love a good nonfiction story that also inspires you? Then you’re definitely going to want to check out this book and see what you think.

How difficult could selling everything that you have, moving abroad, and living the good life really be? Craig had the idea of a new life that was free from all the stress and strain that modern living brings. But unlike the rest of us who may stick to just daydreaming about it, he decided to pull the trigger and actually follow through on living his dream.

It was May of 2002 when Craig, Melanie, and their dog Jazz picked up and put all that they owned into their executive saloon and went to Spain. They overlooked the Costas of the Mediterranean and the villages of Andalucia to make their way to Galicia, a paradise located in Spain’s northwest corner.

They get some help from the locals and are able to adjust to the relaxed lifestyle. They take long lazy lunches and attend village fiestas at night that go on to the early hours. It all seems idyllic enough, but trouble starts to find Craig and Melanie when they start looking for a new home. That’s when the problems seem to start rolling in.

They find a freelance real estate agent who seems shady and soon they are making their way through various dirty and dangerous buildings. They then deal with a brush with the law, a builder who downs tools, a swimming pool that floats, and their life savings going completely missing. Can they survive their Spanish adventure or will it end up eating them alive? Read this colorful and fun travel memoir to find out!

Beyond Imagination: When the Adventure of a Lifetime Becomes a Lifetime of Adventures is the second book in the Journey series by Craig Briggs. This is a follow up to the exciting first book where Craig documents how he packed up everything and moved abroad with his wife and his dog. If you love travel diaries and fun nonfiction, you’ll love this book.

Book one started with the little family following their dream and trying to find a new house in Spain. They finally do it and when they search for a name for their new home, they find that one phrase is simply better than all the rest: El Sueño, which means ‘The Dream’.

But as it turns out, taking this barren plot and transforming it into a beautiful garden is something that is going to test Craig’s resolve as well as test him physically. Looking for a bargain may end up sending them on an all new quest to find a national treasure, sparking new adventures as well as new challenges.

When a communications oversight puts their future at risk, neighbors want to help. But will they be able to help when yet another hurdle comes Craig and Melanie’s way? Read Beyond Imagination by Craig Briggs to find out!
