Deborah Carr is an author who also writes using another pen name. She uses ‘Deborah Carr’ for her works of historical fiction and the pen name Georgina Troy for contemporary romance stories.

She is a USA Today bestselling author who is published by HarperCollins’ One More Chapter division. She resides in Jersey in the Channel Islands, a place that she also uses as the setting for many of her novels. She is married and has three rescue dogs that she shares with her husband. She belongs to The Blonde Plotters writing group.

Deborah first started to become interested in books that were set during the first World War while she was researching her grandfather and the time that he spent as a cavalryman in the 17th 21st Lancers. Her first historical novel to come out is titled Broken Faces.

Jersey is just 9 by 5 miles in size. Despite this, the people of the island have managed to live their way through many unusual historical events. Jersey and the other Channel Islands were the sole places in the British Isles that were occupied by German forces during World War Two. The islands were described in the 16th and 17th centuries as being the witch-hunting capital of Atlantic Europe, ‘proportionate to their size’. The time in the island’s history helped to inspire The Witching Hour and Witchbane.

Her stories feature resilience, strength, courage, and acts of defiance from regular people who are put into the position of having to live in extraordinary times. Deborah says that she really likes to chat with readers and makes an effort to keep them up to date by posting weekly vlogs on @DeborahCarrAuthor, her YouTube channel.

Broken Faces earned a placement as a runner-up in the Good Housekeeping Novel Writing Competition in 2012 and beat out over seven thousand entries to do so. In 2018, Carr signed on with HarperCollins with their One More Chapter division, which led to her penning The Poppy Field, a USA Today bestseller.
