Jessie Crockett is an American published author. She also goes by the names Jessica Ellicott and Jessica Estevao.

Jessie has been a resident of the Granite State for nearly her entire life. She likes black flies, high humidity levels, killing frosts in August, and snow banks that go up really high. She loves to write and work on her next killer adventure but when she isn’t doing that, she likes to keep busy. Jessie combs the beach, designs bento lunches, and constantly throws parties. She also likes to serve as a mentor to young writers at the local schools.

Her first mystery to be published was titled Live Free or Die. It was the 2011 recipient of the Daphne DuMaurier Award for Mainstream Mystery. She is married and lives with her husband and children in a village that she says is so small that different New Hampshire residents often have never heard of it. She encourages readers to write to her since hearing from them can make the winter seem shorter.

Drizzled with Death is the first book in the Sugar Grove Mystery series by Jessie Crockett. Main character Dani Greene is a maple syrup maker from the fourth generation. She is used to crafting syrup, but one thing that she isn’t used to is dealing with a really big troublemaker. Still, she’s going to have to end up shifting gears if she wants to help catch a killer.

Sugar Grove, New Hampshire always has a pre-Thanksgiving pancake eating contest that happens every year. The event is huge and everyone always loves attending it and celebrating the season with a bit of pancake-based fun. This year the Sap Bucket Brigade is sponsoring the event, also known as the firefighters auxiliary.

The Greene family farm is able to provide the syrup. Then Alanza Speedwell ends up falling into a stack of flapjacks during the contest and doesn’t get up again. That is exactly when the Greener Pastures’ syrup starts to become suspect.

The police and her ex-boyfriend are all going after the wrong person, and Dani wants to prove that her family is not responsible when it comes to this shocking death. She’s going to do her best to get everyone out of this situation and prove that someone else was responsible. It’s the only good choice in front of her.

Dani knows that she can clear her family’s name if she just works quickly enough and has a little bit of luck on her side. The odds are stacked up against her but she’s going to be able to ignore that and just do her best if she wants to find a killer. If she can’t, it might end up being a member of her family that ends up taking the fall.

Can she figure out who the killer is or is it just going to be much stickier than Dani thought it would be? She might be an amateur, but she is going to do her very best when it comes to this case and tracking down the killer. Will she be successful in her endeavors? When it comes to living in Sugar Grove, New Hampshire, the people who are there really take maple syrup seriously. This extends to Dani Greene. Her family is the owner of the Greener Pastures sugar house and they do good business, making their money off of this product.

Murder ends up disrupting everything and now this small town is dealing with events that are anything but sweet. Dani is working overtime but not on the sugar house business. She’s taking her time to look over the clues so that she can help draw out a killer and hopefully bring them to justice.

She may be a syrup maker of the fourth generation, but she’s someone who is fairly progressive too. She’s helping the family business to move forward by starting up an agricultural cooperative. The cooperative will be able to keep the costs low for each and every syrup producer that joins.

All of the people think that it’s a pretty good idea and a good deal for them, but there are exceptions. These would include Frank Lemieux, the local curmudgeon. So it only makes sense that when someone tries to sabotage things by targeting those who support the cooperative, Frank becomes the main suspect.

Everyone has their suspicions but it turns out that he can’t have been the person to do it. Dani discovers Frank dead in his own sugar house and he’s clearly been murdered. Then the sabotage keeps going and it quickly becomes clear that Frank can’t be the culprit because he’s dead. Whoever is doing this is alive and kicking. Dani knows that if they’re allowed to roam free out there then they are going to most likely strike again– and keep on trying to sabotage the colelctive.

She needs the help of her family, but with their assistance and the help of an official from the Fish and Game Department, they might just have a shot. The killer is out there waiting to strike again and if Dani can catch them she just might save another syrup master’s life from being taken.
