Darrow Farr is a published Salvadoran American writer.

She attended Stanford University from 2017 to 2019, where she was a Stegner Fellow in Fiction. Farr then went on to study creative writing at the Michener Center at the University of Texas, receiving her MFA.

Darrow was born outside of Philadelphia, where she grew up. She is now married and resides there with her husband and son.

Darrow Farr has served as an editor on From Pups to Grown Ups: A Heartwarming Children’s Book About Growing Up, Friendship, and Life Lessons with Dogs. She also contributed to the short fiction anthology ‘Saints + Sinners: New Fiction from the Festival 2016’. Her debut novel is titled The Bombshell.

Things are going normally and Severine is going about her life when everything changes without warning. One night Severine is out riding her bike when a militant trio pulls her off of it. The attack is not random; the group are fighting for Corsican independence and are holding her for a big ransom amount.

With Severine added to the trio, they number four. Taken to the remote interior of an island, Severine senses an opportunity when they mess up negotiating her release. Now they are not just temporarily in each others’ presence but in a housemate type of situation.

Severine knows that this is her opportunity to strategically get the upper hand on the group. She figures that the best way to do this is to charm her captors and win them over. She is able to win over the intellectual leader Bruno, the university student Tittu, and the gruff Petru, who all start to enjoy being around their hostage more and more.

Perhaps the thing that Severine did not count on was being indoctrinated herself as she was working to win these crusaders over. She gets exposed more to the political philosophy of the group and as she does, ideas of Fanon and Marx start to work their way through her mind. It’s not long before Severine stops identifying as a hostage and starts thinking of herself as one of the group, sharing the same ideals and mission.

Severine has always been someone who longed for the spotlight and felt that she would do well in it. Now she’s about to get her chance. With new beliefs surging through her, she becomes the radical movement’s face and gets broadcast to a televised audience around the globe.
