Demi Winters is an American published author known for writing stories that fall into the genre of romantic fantasy.

She likes to write books that have female character leads who are a bit softer than usual and worlds that have been carefully and richly built up as well as heroes that have a sense of grump to them. She has always appreciated and loved everything that has to do with romance, fantasy, and fairy tales.

Demi is married and has two children with her husband. They reside together in British Columbia, Canada. She is a New York Times bestselling author who is known for writing The Ashen series. The series features Winters’ debut novel, The Road of Bones. The story is set in a world that was inspired by Iceland and Norse mythology and follows the main character Silla Nordvig on a dangerous adventure.

Demi has done everything from being a food blogger to working in molecular biology. Throughout it all, she eventually returned to a passion that she had throughout her entire childhood– writing. She has taken it on and has never looked back. Winters lives with her family and their cats, admitting that her mind is usually lost in some type of fantasy world. The road is not for the faint of heart. It deals with war bands, strange creatures, and potential killers, all that must be braved if Silla wants to get to the shield-house waiting for her in Kopa. Silla takes on the road with her bravest face on but even with all of her bravery, she barely makes it through the first stretch.

She knows that she’s going to have to figure out some type of way to survive this road, so when she spots a supply wagon owned by the Bloodaxe Crew, she figures that it’s the perfect opportunity. She sneaks onto it in the hopes that she’ll get a ride to Kopa flanked by full security. As long as they don’t know she’s there, she’s golden.

She’s going to have to make friends with the leader of the Crew, Axe Eyes, once she is found out. But she’s also going to have to do whatever she can to avoid the Wolf, his right hand man. This might be pretty tough because he’s constantly alert and fairly handsome, so it’s tough not to look his way, let alone avoid his presence.

She’s doing the best that she can, but the queen’s assassin is still on Silla’s tail and refuses to give up. She goes after Silla in an obsessive way. Silla really wants to make it Kopa but she is starting to have concerns that it might be close to impossible.

The Road of Bones is well known for being perilous, and Silla is not some magical exception to all those who have taken on the road before her and fallen victim to it. She is just as susceptible to its dangers as anyone else, something that she is finding out first-hand as she travels it. Can she make it to her destination and find security in the safe house, or is safety just an illusion at the end of the road that will never come? Saga Volsik is dealing with her mission of dismantling Queen Signe’s plans to take her down. She’s been through so much at this point. They killed her family and took her throne, then expected her to marry their son. When she finds out that her foster mother has been keeping a huge secret, it all changes.

Saga is working on taking down the queen, but also has to deal with the Zagadkian dignitary who serves her on the way. Will her plans come through or will she find that it doesn’t pay to take on royalty? Read this book to find out.
