Readers appreciate that her books feel honest and unforced. They are not trying to be something they are not. This sincerity is part of what makes them so engaging. Her commitment to her own style is a big reason why her audience keeps coming back.

Early and Personal Life
Jeannie Zusy spent her early years outside of Washington DC, where she was the youngest of seven children. That large family environment likely gave her plenty of material to observe and absorb. Those early experiences may have planted the seeds for her later interest in storytelling.
She eventually moved to New York City, where she acted and wrote plays for thirteen years. That time on stage and behind the page helped her understand dialogue and character from the inside out. She also raised two daughters during those busy years, all while continuing to write in Croton on Hudson.
Now that her children are grown, she and her husband, artist John Cote, have settled in Beacon, New York. They share their home with their dog, Arlo. This current chapter of her life offers a quieter setting for her ongoing work as a writer.
