Gretchen Allen is an author known for her cozy mystery series. She has written plenty of novels and many of them are part of a series.

Like so many other cozy mystery authors, Gretchen loves everything that is quaint, cozy, and especially caffeinated. Her debut series is titled Sundae Afternoon Cozy Mysteries and has tons of creative ice cream flavors and different frozen treats, all put up against a backdrop of scandals and murders in a small town.

Gretchen loves to write but when she isn’t busy doing that, she really enjoys spending quality time with her family in Florida, a place that is as beautiful as it is sunny. She identifies as being a cat lady and has two of her own to share her life with. One is Swiper, a sweet cat, and Steak is the feisty other cat.

She also has a Chihuahua puppy named Ladybug that is new to her life that has been making their way into her heart too and is a great addition to the little family. Gretchen rarely has free time but when she does she can be discovered at Disney World or hanging out by the pool, relaxing and plotting her next murder.

Curiosity Kills is the first book in the Holiday Homicide series by Gretchen Allen. If you love a good cozy mystery that is going to stay light and bright and fun as it deals with the more serious topics of murder, this might be the right book for you.

Lindsay Kramer has never been much for spiders, bats, or eye of newt, but it’s that time of year coming up again and she’s just going to have to deal with it. She’s finally managed to get some time off of work and she’s going to use it to take a trip and visit her parents, who live in Shadow Bay.

They really love Halloween and have their annual Halloween party coming up. They’re doing everything that they can to get Lindsay to help them out with it. She doesn’t really enjoy Halloween or anything that comes with it, but she agrees to help them out. Now she’s wishing that she hadn’t— not because she’s selfish, but because something comes up and she’s left with more than just help decorating and setting things up.

Her parents end up discovering that they have won a cruise and get to go on vacation for a month. They’re thrilled but the catch is that the cruise is leaving pretty soon and they have to take off immediately. They beg Lindsay to host their party because even though they’re taking off, this is an annual event and everyone loves going to it.

Lindsay is now even more reluctant because she’s left on her own. The only people to help her are some local people that her parents contacted to come in and assist. This would be all right but the party does not go the way that she planned. A body is discovered during the party that throws a wrench into the entire thing. Sure, it’s Halloween themed and supposed to be spooky, but not to this level.

Lindsay does her best to try and get in touch with her parents but can’t seem to make contact. She doesn’t have any other choice but to shut things down and find somewhere else to stay. But soon the police and locals start asking questions about her and everything goes from simple hosting gig to potential murder suspect quicker than she would like.

Lindsay decides that she’s going to stand her ground, fighting until the bitter end. She’s going to work hard to figure out who did this so everyone can leave her alone and she can clear her name and put this entire nightmare behind her. She’s determined to save the day by figuring out who the killer is, but she’s also never taken something like this on.

She’s putting together a list and checking it twice, but will it be enough? With Lindsay as the main suspect, will anyone take her seriously even if she does manage to track down viable suspects because they think that she just wants to throw the limelight off of herself?
