Under the Oak Tree, Volume 1 is the first book in the Under the Oak Tree series by Suji Kim. While so many fairy tales conclude with a wedding and a happy ending, this is not that type of fairy tale. See why other readers loved this series so much that it was the number one web-novel on MANTA in this updated and official translation.
Duke Croyso’s daughter is Lady Maximilian. She is not seen all that often outside of her family’s large castle and is frequently worried that her stutter is going to tarnish their noble name. Then she is put up to marrying a lowborn knight called Sir Riftan who has gotten caught up in her father’s schemes and she knows that she should not hope to be happy or in love.
Her stuttering and his gruffness do not work together and their relationship turns sour before it is even able to start. Riftan confirms this when he departs without saying a word to her the morning after they exchange vows.
It’s been three years after their wedding night and Riftan has come back as a war hero. Maxi is surprised that Riftan still wants her to be his wife. There were rumors swirling around out there that he was offered the chance to be wed to the beautiful sorceress Princess Agnes, but apparently those held no merit.
When Riftan comes to get her, his longing for her confuses Maxi. But she cannot deny that the passion between them is real and it makes her want to marry him. As she takes on a new life, she will find not only a new side of herself but also her own interior boldness, finding along the way that she has her own source of power that could benefit her if she could just learn how to channel it.
Will this be a romance for the ages or are things destined to fizzle out? Check out this first volume of the series which collects together the original seventy-six chapter of this original web-novel to find out.
Under the Oak Tree, Volume 2 is the second book in the Under the Oak Tree series by Suji Kim. If you thought that the first book in this series was absolutely the right pick for you, then moving on to the second volume of this series will be a no-brainer move!
So many fairy tales conclude with a wedding and a happy story, as has been mentioned, but some types of fairy tales are a little different. Can unusual circumstances lead to love?
Lady Maximilian has spent her first winter in Anatol, and now that season has turned to spring. Lady Max is dealing with a sense of hope that is not familiar to her. Her magic and her voice are getting stronger with every day that goes by.
The last parts of the Calypse Castle are left to be refurbished, the gardens. Lady Maxi has plans of filling them up with gorgeous blooming flowers. Her husband Sir Riftan is still in love with her and looks at her with such affection from across the bedroom that for the first time in life she is starting to believe that she actually might be worthy of it.
Maxi’s life is going so well, but that just means that it’s time for something to happen out of the blue. She is starting to feel like she is at home with her husband but just as things are going so well she gets surprised by a visit from Princess Agnes.
She was the woman who was meant to become his wife if he had decided to divorce Maxi, but that did not end up happening. Maxi did not expect her to come here and now her arrival is driving up emotions and politics that could end up leading to huge changes in the way that Maxi and Riftan relate to one another.
Can the pair figure out a way to get the princess to leave or are they going to have to deal with her staying for longer than they’d like and potentially affecting their relationship? Find out by getting the second volume of this series from Suji Kim that collects chapters 77-133 from the original web novel and brings them together for readers to enjoy for an all-new read that is guaranteed to be entertaining and fun all the way through.
