Michael Wehunt is an American published author.

He is the winner of the Bram Stoker Award. He grew up in North Georgia in a place that was close enough for the Appalachians to feel them and live in their shadow. He did not make it all that far out from there when he left, living sixty miles south to Atlanta where he still lives today with not as much woods but still a lot of trees.

He has written short fiction and it has been featured in many different places including several best-of anthologies. His debut novel was The October Film Haunt and it won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel as well as a Georgia Author of the Year Award.

His story collection Greener Pastures also did very well, becoming a finalist for the Shirley Jackson award. It was shortlisted for the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts Crawford Award and was published in Spain. There it gained nominations for the Premio Ignotus and the Premio Amaltea, winning the latter of the two. His novelette Vampire Fiction was also a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award and found a place in his sophomore collection The Inconsolables.

He likes to spend his time reading and writing and has plenty of great authors on his bookshelf. He continues to live in the woods with their partner and the dog they share together, where they hold the horrors off.

The October Film Haunt is the debut novel from Michael Wehunt. If you’ve been looking for a suspenseful new novel to enjoy, this could be the book for you in a tour de force about a woman that becomes part of a cult horror film that could have a sequel.

Jorie Stroud was an actress ten years ago who thought that she was going to land the role of a lifetime that could change everything. She was the rising star of the October Film Haunt, which featured three horror enthusiasts who would camp out at the filming locations of scary movies and share what they liked about the movies through their blog.

When they spend the night in the graveyard from Proof of Demons, one of the scariest cult films ever made, it seems like everything fell apart. The movie was directed by Hélène Enriquez, a mysterious and enigmatic director.

Now Jorie has built up her own life on her own living with her young son in Vermont. Her Proof of Demons blog entry went viral and caused so much hysteria and backlash along the way, and even somehow resulted in a young woman dying. Jorie has put all of it– including her love for the horror genre– behind her.

When a videotape comes for her in the mail, it seems that it all is still as active as ever. Jorie is worried that someone out there is filming her. Then the Rickies, the Enriquez obsessives who would do anything for the director, start to cross the line in bizarre ways. Jorie starts to put two and two together and figure out that the director has decided to make some new type of sequel and Jorie has been picked to be the final girl.

Things get even more dangerous and unusual, and as they do, Jorie is going to have to try and track down the answers that she is looking for. She doesn’t want the movie to affect her and is worried that it is going to end up affecting her and taking away everything that she cares about.

This is an incredible horror novel that is about supernatural terror that takes place in a world where truth can be manipulated and you cannot always trust that things are what they appear to be. The result is a beautiful story with great characters that will keep readers going until the very last page. This is a great story about a man who gets revealed for crimes that he does not remember doing and the monsters that are at the center of everything for us all. Luke Oshel is dealing with a rainy night when he gets stood up while partly through dinner, which adds to everything.

His date goes to the bathroom and never comes back but before she does, she leaves an old photograph under the napkin. It features Luke as a child but that is not the disturbing part. There is a dead body in the photo and a man wearing a mask. Even more strangely, he does not recall this event at all.

But then more photos come around and it gets even more disturbing. Luke is posed with murder victims and has blood all over him. Just like that, he falls into the paranoia and the repressed memories that he has done his best to leave behind.

Alcohol, drugs, therapy, and hypnosis sessions have never contributed to him getting over his deepest fear that he has not gotten away from the legacy of his late father, a killer who ended his victims through blood loss. However, now there are some new serial killings happening out there and it turns out that there is evidence that indicates Luke is responsible.

As he tries to find out more about the truth in the North Georgia Appalachian mountains, Luke finds that a threat comes up that may end up putting everything that he cares about into jeopardy. Even though he is not with his ex-wife anymore, he still cares about her and their daughter. Can he resolve the darkness and put the monsters away for good? Read this book to find out.
