Writing Career

Kathy Reichs has built a substantial career as a crime writer over the years. As of January 2019, she had written 23 novels, with her work appearing in 30 different languages. Twenty of those books form the popular Temperance Brennan series, which began with her debut novel, titled Déjà Dead, a book that won the 1997 Arthur Ellis Award given for Best First Novel.

She has also branched out into young adult fiction, co-writing the Virals series alongside her son Brendan. That series features Tory Brennan, who is the great-niece of Tempe, along with her friends and a wolfdog named Cooper. Fatal Voyage

Kathy Reichs published her fourth Temperance Brennan novel, Fatal Voyage, on June 23, 2001. The publisher for this mystery thriller was Scribner. This book arrived as the next installment in her growing series of forensic crime stories.

Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan looks into a plane crash that took place in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains. She comes across a leg that has been chewed on by a coyote at the site of the accident. After doing some quick calculations in her head, she understands that this particular person was not a passenger on the aircraft. The DMORT team quickly gets to work on the case.

Readers often find this book hard to put down once they start. The main character’s detective work keeps people guessing throughout the story. Many enjoy the way the author mixes science with suspense. This novel offers a satisfying experience for anyone who likes a good mystery.

Code

Kathy Reichs and her son Brendan Reichs co-authored the young adult novel Code, which was published on March 12, 2013. The book was released by Razorbill as the third installment in their Virals series. This publication added another title to their collaborative work in the science fiction and fantasy genre.

The Virals face their biggest challenge yet when they discover a geocache that holds an elaborate puzzle box. Shelton manages to crack the code hidden inside, which leads them to more interesting clues from someone called The Gamemaster. A larger geocache seems to be waiting for them if they can rise to the occasion. The search turns dangerous when Tory finds a second box that turns out to be a fake bomb, along with a threatening offer from The Gamemaster. A real bomb is now somewhere out there, and time is running out for the team.

Anyone who picks up this book often find themselves drawn into the action right away. The young characters are easy to root for as they work together to solve each new puzzle. Readers tend to appreciate the steady pace and the clever twists along the way. This story offers a fun ride for anyone who enjoys a good adventure with a scientific angle.

   I cannot find a copy of Bones in her Pocket anywhere.
   I am reading the books in order but it is not on iPhone Kindle or available in Amazon book store. Any idea where I can find it

   Ms. Reichs:

   I remember from the TV series Bones that Temperance Brennan wanted to run for the office of President of the United States of America because “Donald Trump said he wanted to” so why shouldn’t she. She observed she would do a great job as the President of the USA.

   I agree!

   I seriously plan to write James Earl Carter, Jr. in as my vote on November 6, 2020, for President of the USA. It will only be considered seriously if I include a “full ticket” to include a Vice Presidential write-in as well.

   Yes, I know President Carter is 95 years old. He is a man I admire and always have. Having served only one term he remains eligible to hold the office. I am an Independent who believes he would get this country back on track.

   Now the reason for writing to you. I propose to include you as the Vice Presidential candidate on my write-in ballot. Knowing you are the brains behind the stories and that not learning from history we are doomed to repeat it, I am hoping you are amenable to the idea.
