Claire Delacroix, a romance dreamer who is one of the bestselling authors, sold her first book in 1992 called THE ROMANCE OF THE ROSE. A woman who dreams, weave characters and create romantic scenes, has since written and published more than fifty romance novels and numerous counts of novellas. Under this pseudonym name, she has won many accolades and awards through her historical romance books. However as she grew in her writing, she has been conjuring many fantasies in her mind and penned them in books which have been seen in many published fantasy romance books. On her website, www.delacroix.net, you will be able to find many of her romance books. She has an honor degree in history but her major is really, in the medieval studies. Ever since her first published book, she has strings of accolated filled novels such as the Jewels of the Kinfairlie Series and Bride Quest series. It was “The Beauty Bride” from the Bride Quest series that has won her the New York Times List of Bestselling Books. As a result of her brilliance, her books have been routinely appearing on other best seller’s list. Recently in 2012, she was honored to receive the Romance Writers of America’s Mentor of the Year Award. Albeit, she started out as a technical writer for a software company and in her leisure time, she would read in the evening. Loves to read fantasy genre, she felt short of reading the exploration of emotional relationships. Hence, she decided to write a book herself, in combining two of her most favorite genre, of which she unwittingly started upon a new career. Writing romance with fantasy elements is to her the best possible combination, liken to chocolate and caramel, all in one bite.
As an avid reader of medieval literature and fantasy novels, it is of no surprise that most of her books are medieval romance based novels with some fantasy elements in them. Her first most recognized novel is “The Beauty Bride”, from the medieval romance trilogy Bride Quest. This series is set in the medieval time of Ireland, a fairy tale themed of castles, princesses, and knights. Her first book “The Princess” comes with a new twist to the story of a bard’s tale.
Brianna, an only child of the King Tullymullagh, decreed by King Henry II to marry one of the three sons of the man who conquered her father’s kingdom in a siege. Horrified by the decree, Princess Briana swears to only wed her one true love and send the brothers to a seemingly impossible challenge by bringing her a gift that will make her laugh the longest, of whom she will only wed. The two youngest brother left on the quest but not Luc.
The eldest of the Fitzgavin, Luc refuses her foolish quest. He has but one desire and it is to receive from his brutish father, the seal on his beloved Welsh estate. He scorns her childish whims and request from a spoiled princess. However, as Luc stays longer in Brianna’s presence, she finds herself intrigued and seeks to know him better. Brianna and Luc find themselves drawn to one another and ultimately fell in love amidst series of intrigues and murder in the castles, along with funny scenes scattered throughout the story.
Delacroix weaves in the plot with romance, adventures and surrounds the reader with sights and sounds, showcases her talent in combining both medieval, fantasy and romance, a truly fairy tale themed.
In Delacroix recent series of “The Jewels of Kinfairlie”, brings her readers back to the medieval Scotland. The story at Kinfairlie begins from her previous Rogues of Ravensmuir trilogy, “The Rogue”. It continues the story of the Lammergeier family. This trilogy tends toward a gothic tone with enigmatic heroes in battles and feuds, correcting injustices and of course, only the worthiest fights for their love. It entwines with adventure and pageantry, passion and romance.
In “The Beauty Bride”, is the story of Madeline who is being forced to marry against her will to an outlawed mercenary, Rhys Fitz Henry, made her ran away. Rhys, a man who takes what he wants determined to find his bride, not because of love but he has an ulterior motive. Marrying Madeline, his family’s land will be secured under his name. It is an action tale woven story in the set time of the historical Scotland and England, revolving around a love story. Lovely bantering from Madeline and Rhys makes it entertaining and engaging. This is a story that tells love is won through the greatest trials. And the rest of the story will leave you wanting more.
Delacroix has since written a follow-up of the Kinfairlie siblings in the series. It is “The Beauty of Bride” that caught the eyes of many readers and was listed in the New York Times of the Bestselling books. It is still heralded as one of the great reads of the medieval romance genre, garnered Delacroix the title of “Queen of Medieval Romance”.
Claire Delacroix has sold more than 1.8 million copies of her historical and paranormal books. Many of her books have been translated into a dozen languages worldwide. And recently she is digitally republishing a number of books. Her writing style has been admired by many and thus produces many dedicated readers who anticipate a mixture of romance, adventure, and fairy tales. Her most recent up to date published book is the urban fantasy romance, The Abyss. She has also penned many other books in the romance genre as Deborah Cooke and Claire Cross.
She is currently living in Toronto, Canada with her husband with numerous varieties of houseplants. She is known to be an avid knitter with many unfinished knitting projects. However, it is in her knitting time that brings out many of those plot tangles. She loves to travel and as much as possible, rides her bicycle everywhere and has a passion for cooking, as long as she has someone else to do the dishes! For the many hearts and minds this stunning author has won, she may just be in our memories for a long time to come.
