Death and the Oxford Box is the first book in the Kate Ivory series by Veronica Stallwood. If you enjoy a good mystery story, then be sure to check this novel out and see what you think!
It is a cold morning in February and at dawn a mist is hanging over Oxford, putting a shroud over various spires and domes. Kate Ivory is a novelist and she’s enjoying an early run in the morning with the women’s jogging group.
It’s a good way to get her away from her computer and word processor and she also gets a nice bit of exercise while also being able to hear all of the local gossip while on the run. It’s on one of these mornings that Kate hears some new gossip: one of the women is complaining to Kate that her husband’s walked out on her.
Along with him, he has taken along the valuable antique enamel mourning boxes that were gifted to her by her grandmother. This is also a problem because her grandmother is soon coming to visit. The group has plans to get the boxes back by stealing them. But in their planning of a raid, how could they have guessed that this would end up being a cover for an even more sinister crime? What will happen in the end? Read this book to find out!
Oxford Exit is the second book in the Kate Ivory series by Veronica Stallwood. If you read the first book in this series and enjoyed it, then be sure to check this one out too and follow along with yet another adventure!
Kate Ivory is a novelist and when she gets the chance to take on a special assignment by her friend at the Bodleian Library at Oxford, she ultimately chooses to accept it. The libraries at the university are experiencing a problem where valuable books have been going missing from their collections, even though they are closely guarded.
Now it’s going to be up to Kate to discover just how this is happening. Then there’s the library staff, who are looking at Kate with suspicious eyes. Kate knows that there appears to be a lot of ways that the books could have gone missing.
Then Kate starts overhearing stories of a different disappearance from the year before, where a young librarian was discovered killed. Is it possible that there’s a connection in all of this? At the same time, there’s someone else in Oxford who is handing in essays for a creative writing class. Could it be the confession to a crime? Can Kate figure out what’s going on with the books and solve that case and any other cases that come her way? Read this book to find out!
