Melinda Metz is an American published author. She is perhaps most well-known for her original series of novels written with her co-author, Roswell High, which inspired the television show Roswell.
Metz was born in California and grew up in San Jose. She had no deep interest in trying to learn to read with her mother when she was at kindergarten age. She also didn’t want to find out how to write down her name. She was all about the activities, like the playing, the finger paints, and taking naps.
Melinda has been able to since move on to more adult things. For college, she attended the local state university in San Jose and her major was English. She graduated and then decided to move on to Manhattan so that she could pursue her career and what surely would be fortune. This started off with the author learning how to identify vegetables and fruits at the grocery store that employed her as well as working at a play well off Broadway for a small amount backstage as well as being a book editor.
Metz first collaborated with an author when she became a partner in writing with Laura J. Burns. The two of them were working at the same place as editors at a mutual company. When they partnered up to get some story ideas going, they found that their brains had ended up fusing together and they were able to collaborate later on their series of novels, Roswell High. Melinda wrote the series, while Laura developed and edited it.
The series would end up to the two officially joining forces as a team of writers. They would go on to write their own television pilots (twice) and their success eventually necessitated that they would have to move all the way to Los Angeles so that they could work on the television show. This would be what would become the cult classic t.v. show Roswell.
The two of them also lived in Toronto for a brief time when they were on the staff of ‘1-800-Missing’. Now they still collaborate but also write their own individual books too. Their young adult book is Sanctuary Bay that is set at an island private school where students must reside until they graduate. Melinda also has several other popular series out.
She resides in North Carolina in the city of Concord. Her dog is named after the X-Files character Scully. She can confidently recount that she did eventually learn to write as well as read her own name and some books too!
The exciting young adult series known as Roswell High came out for readers to enjoy in 1998! Readers were catapulted into an interesting world influenced by science fiction and what may prove to be so much more than that. Melinda Metz teamed up with dream collaborator Laura J. Burns in order to bring this fictional tale of teens in high school in New Mexico to life. There are ten books in the series.
The Outsider is the first book in the Roswell High series. Liz has always kept an eye out for Max once she glimpsed him for the first time. She has just seen him walking around school a couple of times, but already she just knows that he is way different from the other guys that go there.
You couldn’t really miss him in a crowd even if you wanted to. Max is blond and tall, a senior with blue eyes. He’s pretty photogenic on top of it all, but he seems to be always on his own and keeping to himself. There may be a reason for this that Liz has not yet thought of, however.
Little does she know that Max fell for her a long time ago. He loves her and everything about her, from the way that she laughs to the way that her hair moves. He really wants to be able to say something to her or even try to start some type of relationship or go on a date. Max wants to kiss Liz more than anything, but it can never happen.
He would never be able to let anyone get that close to him. That would only bring greater risk. No one can find out the truth when it comes to his identity. If anyone knew what he really was, they would be in danger to a level that they never would have imagined.
Can Max succeed in his mission to keep her safe, or will his classmate find out his secret? Read the first book in this fun sci-fi series to find out!
High school can be really tough, and circumstances are usually never nearly as unique as they are in The Wild One. If you loved the first book in the series, be sure to check out this engaging sequel from these two female authors!
Isabel had a feeling that something was starting up from the second that she heard a motorcycle come to life. She heard Nikolas’s bike and it was all over. He’s new to the area, and the timing could not have been better.
She’s actually pleasantly surprised to find out that this guy seems to get her. He appears to know what she is thinking and feeling most of the time. Nikolas seems to have an intensive understanding of her identity and that she’s just naturally wild.
Isabel was simply born that way. But when she gets into a relationship with him, it turns out that Alex is the one that is jealous. But more than just his feelings is the worry that Nikolas will be putting Isabel in harm’s way.
She has to be careful if she wants to keep some secrets hidden from the town sheriff. If Sheriff Valenti finds out what’s going on with her, then things are really going to get heated. Can she keep it together just long enough to get ahead of it all? Read this book to find out, and check out the original television series from the WB that ran from 1999 to 2002, or the 2019 reboot of the original, titled Roswell, New Mexico.
