“Girl Detective” is the first novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2014. After solving a bank robbery, Friday uses her reward money in order to send herself to Highcrest Academy, which is the most exclusive boarding school in the country. While there, she finds out it is a hotbed of crime.

Quickly, she is investigating all kinds of things from the horrifying Yeti that haunts the school swamp to the vanishing homework. The biggest mystery of all is Ian Wainscott, who is the most arrogant and handsome boy at the school, who for some reason hates her. Is the homework going to be found? Why would Ian want to ruin her? Will they ever track down that Yeti?

This book is a great combination of comedy and mystery. There is a unique voice being used in the book that is a blast, which is capable of making readers laugh out loud.

“Under Suspicion” is the second novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2015. Getting arrested was the very last thing Friday expected when she solved the swamp-yeti mystery at her school. She has to clear her name fast. She has some new cases to work on, a decades old mystery that is buried in the backyard of her school, a scandalous quiche bake-off, and why the new kid, Christopher, is being nice to her.

Friday’s quirky and eccentric personality is able to shine through and gains more self-confidence, getting more used to the spotlight being on her. She is a fantastic lead and entertaining to follow around the school.

“Big Trouble” is the third novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2015. Crime hits rather close to home when Friday finds out her mom has been abducted. Her detective work gets set aside when Friday becomes distracted by the other goings on at her school. There is a master thief known as the Pimpernel and a new VIP student (a Norwegian princess) cause chaos over the whole campus. Can girl genius and super sleuth break the case of her missing mom, unmask the elusive Pimpernel, and reign the royal brat in?

Friday is a blast to follow around while she is solving crimes. Each of these books is funny and clever, making readers pick up the next one when they have finished the one they are reading.

“No Rules” is the fourth novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2016. Friday just got deported to Switzerland, but she is needed back.

With their go-to detective missing, Highcrest Academy has just descended into chaos. Somebody has fired every single teacher as a major prank. Suspicion fell on Ian Wainscott, who is Friday’s rival and who is also in love with her desperately. There is the issue of a new vice principal and his own questionable behavior. It is pretty hard to take anybody seriously when he is wearing tie-dyed shirts, right?

Will Friday be able to prove Ian’s innocence, save her school, and find the real prankster? If it involves running of any kind, then probably not, but otherwise Friday is on the case.

Fans found themselves gasping at certain spots and laughing out loud at others. These are likable characters that readers enjoy getting to know in each book.

“The Plot Thickens” is the fifth novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2016. Friday gets involved in Ian Wainscott’s family squabble, it seems her knack for finding the truth could ruin their friendship for good.

Highcrest is no longer a fun place to be. Ian has just declared war on Friday, and she is thinking about leaving the place for good. There are also two new teachers to contend with: an over-enthused PE teacher that is on a fitness crusade and a celebrity artist with unclear intentions.

It is going to be a dangerous term, between both them and Ian. Will Friday be able to repair the friendship she has with Ian, restore her excellent life-school balance, and work out who it is that is committing acts of vandalism around Highcrest? Nobody ever said that high school would be easy.

As these books progress, the characters are growing and filling out. This is another brilliant outing for Friday Barnes. These are funny and smart stories that keep readers coming back for more.

“Danger Ahead” is the sixth novel in the “Friday Barnes” series, which was released in the year 2017. Friday has to face her biggest fear, her own emotions. She has to wave goodbye to Ian when he goes off to join his dad in the Cayman Islands. When your father is a white-collar criminal, any family reunion will never go according to plan. Ian gets taken on the way and it is up to Friday to rescue him.

On her way back to school, the Headmaster has got a treat in store. It is a four-week camp for kids to learn all about wilderness survival skills. ‘Camp Courage’, as it is called, is much worse than Friday thought. All her book smarts are not much help when she has to chop wood, latrines to dig, and potatoes to peel.

Will Friday debunk the legend about the camp ghost, survive the great outdoors, and make it back to Highcrest Academy alive? Only a compass and time will tell.

This excellent book has a lot of humor and a outstanding plot to it. Readers felt themselves on the edge of their seat the entire time they were reading it.
