Author A. J. Rivers writes the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series of novels. The series began publication in the year 2019, when “The Girl in Cabin 13” was released.

Death, disappearances, and tragedies have followed Emma Griffin throughout her entire childhood. Her obsession to uncover the truth behind her past is what led to her to join the FBI.

“The Girl in Cabin 13” is the first novel in the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series and was released in the year 2019. Knock knock. Emma finds a dead body on her porch that has her name written on the hand. She finds a sinister clue to a mystery that has haunted her since her childhood.

FBI agent Emma Griffin is sent undercover to a tiny sleepy town of Feathered Nest to find out the truth behind the series of vanishings that’s left the town horrified. To Emma there isn’t anything that can lay buried forever. Although, her own childhood has been plagued by disappearances and deaths.

Her dad’s disappearance, her mom’s death, and her boyfriend’s disappearance. These are the only cases that she hasn’t been able to solve. Her obsession with finding out the truth behind her past is what lead to her joining the FBI to begin with.

Now she has to face would could be her biggest case. In Cabin 13 there is an uneasy feeling. The feeling of all her movements being watched. With her past still haunting her, she has to fight her own demons in order to stop the body count from rising. The woods have their secrets. This idyllic town has murderous ones. Either she reveals them or risk them claiming her as well. In Feathered Nest, nothing is like it appears.

Fans of the book liked how the book keeps you on your toes, and Rivers does a great job of building the mystery over the course of the novel. Emma is a likable main character in the novel.

“The Girl That Vanished” is the second novel in the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series and was released in the year 2020. Ring ring. A call from her past was all that it took to change it all. A ten year old girl disappeared on her way home from camp. Things took a turn for the worse after a another kid, one Emma knows, also goes missing.

It has been months since the horror of Feather Nest. After the stunning revelation from her last case, she decides to take a much needed vacation. One phone call from Sheriff Sam Johnson, a guy from her past, totally derails her plans. With the number slowly climbing, Emma has to put her plans on hold, return to her hometown, and confront some ghosts from her past.

A mysterious package arrives, Emma cannot shake the sensation that somebody monitors every move she makes. Somebody’s getting to close for comfort. Question is, who? In this tiny town of Sherwood, the truth is never like it appears.

The mysteries are written in such a complex way that make it tough to figure out just who done it, with a plot twist happening right when you believe you’ve got things all figured out.

“The Girl in the Manor” is the third novel in the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series and was released in the year 2020. The sound of a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the manor. All of her pleas and her screams not heard. Tomorrow wouldn’t come for Everly Zara. What does the death of a young kid, and the sudden death of the girl in the manor have in common? Is there something much more disturbing than anybody could ever imagine or was it just a coincidence?

Everly Zara, a beautiful young lady, is found dead in the manor’s bedroom. The news is disturbing and shocking to those who know her. The heartbreaking death of this woman might not be as straightforward as people thought.

The further she dives into the case, the more she finds that not everything is as like it seems. While secrets from Everly’s past start rising up to the surface and the shocking nature of it discovered. Emma has to unravel the truth before she is a victim herself. In the tiny town of Sherwood, somebody or something is coming for Emma Griffin. With her past always haunting her, and the disturbing nature of the case, nothing is as it appears, yet it all seems so familiar. Emma has to wonder if she is losing her mind.

How far is she willing to go to learn the truth behind Everly’s death? One thing is for sure: Emma’s whole world is going to be forever changed once the full truth is revealed.

The novel hooks you right from the start and leaves you just an upset mess by the end. You never want the story to end, as it is an intriguing story with a bunch of turns and twists.

“The Girl Next Door” is the fourth novel in the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series and was released in the year 2020. Sherwood’s a tiny town. One filled with friendly faces, and much friendlier neighbors. It is why Emma isn’t too surprised that her new neighbor begins stopping by to talk.

Turns out her neighbor has got a dark past and some secrets that made her take off. Much as Emma wished it weren’t true, dark pasts and secrets are two things that she is far too familiar with, particularly now more than ever.

A spooky unknown filled the air in Sherwood, Virginia. Odd things happen all around Emma, things nobody can explain, which many do not believe. She witnesses two figures hidden by some sheer curtains, strangling a much smaller figure, one she can just assume is Ruby’s. It makes her a witness to the girl next door’s murder.

What do you do when nobody believes this girl even existed? Emma’s world begins spinning, and she starts wondering: could somebody be taunting her and then taking lives just to torment her? Or has she actually gone crazy?

What age group are the Emma Griffin books written for?
Some of my favorite authors are Lee Child, Nick Petrie, Karin Slaughter, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, James Rollins, Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy. Not interested if it is more like Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys.

This can’t be the last book in this series . We never found out how Jonas got out of prison. He has to be caught before this series can end! Disappointed if you don’t finish!
