Diamond D. Johnson is an urban fiction writer born and raised in Miami. She has written over 70 novels under her name and has always loved reading and writing since a young age. Her motivation came from her favorite authors like Erick S. Gray, Nika Michelle, Wahida Clark, and Shavon Moore.
Before becoming a full-time author, Diamond attended school, studying for a degree in education, and worked a part-time job at Publix supermarkets. With all that on her plate, she still pushed herself to read a minimum of ten books in one month.
For a long time, Diamond felt that she could write but didn’t know where to begin. Finally, she found the courage to share her creativity with the world. At first, she only did the writing during her free time after choosing to use the time she had spent reading other writers’ books to write one of her own.
Since then, Diamond has always found fun in doing what she loves the best, writing. When not writing, you can find her spending time with family, shopping, and watching movies.
Dem Boyz from Da Bottom
Taliban, Tremaine, Tedman, and Taahid are four brothers known as the Williams brothers. Taliban is 31 years old and always feels like someone who has lived twice his age. Their father is in jail, serving a life sentence, while their mother has become a drug addict.
Taliban had no choice but to take responsibility as the head of the family while still in high school. Being a young boy with a grown man’s responsibilities, the Taliban had to get into issues with the law enforcers, which forced him to go to prison severally.
During his detention, his younger brothers had to go live with their aunt, where they had to endure things that they would rather not reveal to anyone. Tedman is 25 years old and is the violent one. He’s so reckless, and if there is no one to force him to do the right thing, he is causing trouble. But lead to Him becoming that way?
Tedman has been on depression and anxiety mediation, but he seems to hide a secret from his past, which may have contributed to his current condition. Can he trust anyone to share his problems and get the help he requires?
Tremaine is seventeen years old and still in senior high school. He’s also a star athlete in football and plans on going to college and playing in the NFL so that he can be able to provide and take care of his family.
His major plan is to repay his elder brother Taliban for choosing to sacrifice himself to raise him. Tremaine has been a good boy, but sometimes she finds himself in the company of bad people who might be a distraction and prevent him from accomplishing his dream.
The last brother is Taahid, only fourteen years old; his father went to prison when he was only two months old, and soon after, his mother abandoned them. He doesn’t know how his parents’ love feels since he has never seen his parents protect or care for him.
Unfortunately, Taahid also suffers from depression, just like Tedman, but he chose to suffer in silence for him. He fears that his family might not accept the truth and fights his battles on his own until he feels it has become too much.
There is also Sage Davis, a fiancée of a famous Miami street king Apollo. They have an adorable daughter, but Sage chooses to leave Apollo. She took her daughter with her; since then, she feels like she has lost everything.
However, as days pass, she realizes things, making her question whether she really knew Apollo in the past decade. Later, fate brings together Sage and Taliban, two people at entirely different stages in their life. Can their relationship really work? Can the Taliban, who has undergone a lot, finally connect with a woman like Sage? He is aware that her fiancé was the Street king in Miami, meaning she can be off-limit.
The story is well plotted with a great storyline and excellent character development.
Turned Out by His Hood Mentality
Normani Davidson is a 26-year-old black woman who has been keeping things low for some time. She is from a family of high achievers and a pastor’s child. This means that Normani had high expectations from the people around her from a young age.
Her father put on so much pressure on her and wanted nothing but the best for his kids. Normani currently lives a good life, and she is not only a pediatrician but also a bestselling writer of Christian books for children. She is so committed to AKA, the club, that she chose to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become part of it.
Even though Normani is going well in her life, he is still a single lady and has struggled to find a soulmate. The interesting part is that Normani never thought it would be so hard to get a boyfriend.
On the other hand, is a billionaire, also known as Billion. He’s a handsome, rich black who has rejoined society after five years in prison. He comes with his share of problems, but the major issue is his two kids with two different women.
Billion and Normani have nothing in common and are as different as one would think, but whoever said opposites attract was never wrong. At first, none of them is much into each other since it’s a challenging thing to try to love now that there are a few similarities between them.
Can a good church girl like Normani have a relationship with a popular thug like Billionaire? The billionaire was rough around the edges but also knew his mistakes and chose now time to live his life and show the better side of himself.
Diamond did a marvelous job developing the characters from the beginning. Billion and Normani seem to be bringing out the best in each other by stepping out of their comfort zone to be there for each other.
