I’m really excited for something that I am going to be launching on BSIO over the next couple months; genre book clubs!
Basically it will be a monthly book club, focused on a specific genre.
it’s a work in progress at the moment but I hope to have the first one launched in May or June.
Looking forward to that!
Okay so what did I read in March? Let’s see – quite a few books. Some of the highlights:
The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells: I’ve now read both the first and second books in this series. I am really enjoying it. I read it in between other books. What I really like about it is they are short so you get that nice “progress” feeling as you read more. Highly recommend this series and looking forward to the rest.
Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak: Really neat book with drawn pictures included and there was a cool backstory to the pictures. This is a horror/thriller novel and another great one. I’ll certainly read more by Rekulak.
The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie by Freida McFadden: A satirical novella and I thought it was decent. It can be a difficult thing to pull off but thought Freida did a decent job of it.
Do Not Disturb by Claire Douglas: A very good psychological thriller. What I liked about this was it was a lot deeper than your standard psychological thriller. Not a knock on authors such as Freida, B.A. Paris etc – but there just felt so much more to this story and it was a nice change of pace.
That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally: A YA Thriller about a girl who wakes up on the side of the road and has no idea how she ended up there. A police officer finds her and takes her to the police station. A man shows up claiming to be her dad….but she doesn’t recognize him. Really enjoyed this one and it’s got me looking for more YA Thrillers as they can be an easy read.
