Riley Keough is a published author known for being the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and Elvis Presley’s oldest granddaughter. She is a former model and is an actress.

She was born on May 29, 1989 in Santa Monica in the United States.

Danielle Riley Keough started out working as a model from 2004 to 2008, moving over to acting where she made her debut in the musical biopic The Runaways. She landed many early roles, being featured in The Good Doctor, Magic Mike, and Mad Max: Fury Road.

She was featured in American Honey and has been in It Comes at Night, The House That Jack Built, Under the Silver Lake, Logan Lucky, Zola, and Sasquatch Sunset. She earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for her work in The Girlfriend Experience and has been in The Terminal List as well as Daisy Jones & the Six.

Keough has also co-founded Felix Culpa, a production company. She co-directed War Pony and was the sole owner of Graceland following the death of her mother in 2023. Before founding her film career, she worked as a model and was featured in many different campaigns and magazine covers.

She reported that she finished write the memoir of her mother in January of 2024. It was based off of the autobiographical audiotapes that she ended up recording. The memoir was set to be released in 2024 and the narration for the audio book version was provided by Riley Keough as well as Julia Roberts. The title was revealed in June of 2024 and credited Keough and her mother as the author of the book, coming out at last on October 8, 2024.

Keough was able to make an appearance at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2025 Ready to Wear Show, where she put on a rendition of ‘When Doves Cry’ by Prince for the closing of the show. She said that she was invited to perform just days before the show was supposed to take place.

She has dated Ryan Cabrera and was briefly engaged to Alex Pettyfer. She would reconnect for a moment with Cabrera after breaking up with Pettyfer. She would get married to Ben Smith-Petersen in February 2015, an Australian stuntman. The two announced their engagement the year before, having met while filming Mad Max: Fury Road. They had their daughter in 2022 and she was born through a surrogate, and their second child came along in 2025.

While the author was brought up in the Church of Scientology, she later would identify as spiritual and was not affiliated with other churches. Her mother would pass away in 2023 at age 54 years old. At the service, Smith-Petersen delivered a speech that was written by Keough. A prime-time special also came out on CBS where she gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey.

From Here to the Great Unknown is a 2024 book by Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough. In 2022, Lisa Marie asked her daughter whether she would help her finish a book that she had been writing for quite some time.

It would be just a month later that Lisa Marie passed away. The world wouldn’t know her story in her own words and would never come to know the woman that Riley loved so much, a woman who was complicated, caring, joyful and passionate now that she had passed– unless Keough took on the project herself.

Riley was able to obtain the books that her mother recorded for the book. She laid in her bed and listened as her mother told endless stories about all types of escapades. She also talked about the unconditional love that she felt from her father, about experiencing his death, living in LA with her mother, getting transferred from school to school, talking about her relationship with Danny Keough and about being married to Michael Jackson, as well as about motherhood, addiction, and grief.

Listening to all of this, Riley understood that she had to complete her mother’s wish to show these memories to the world and to make her mother known in a way that she otherwise would not have been able to.
