The Way of Integrity: Finding the Path to Your True Self is a 2021 book by Martha N. Beck. The sociologist and author dives into the concept of integrity and why it is the key to having a life that is full of meaning and joy. Martha says that the one cure for psychological suffering is integrity at the end of the day and expands upon this throughout the book.

In this book, Beck gives the author a four-stage process that people are able to use in order to find integrity. Along with it, they may also find that they attain emotional healing, a sense of purpose, and a life that does not come with mental suffering.

Much of what bothers us all points to what can happen when we are not in touch with what makes us whole. This can include people pleasing, staying in relationships that have gone bad, and negative habits. This book was inspired by The Divine Comedy and as such uses the hero’s journey that Dante goes on as a framework that helps break down the process by which we can get personal integrity into steps that are smaller and easier to take on. She also shows the reader how we can read the internal signals that take us towards the true path and to see what we want as opposed to what is sold to us by the culture.

Beck includes techniques that have been tested on hundreds of her clients. She is able to bring the expertise that she has as a social scientist and a life coach as well as a human to get to the bottom of what integrity looks like in our lives, taking the reader on a spiritual path that could end up taking them to a place of real happiness. Read this book to find out everything that Martha N. Beck has to say!

As people, we are currently living in an anxiety epidemic. A lot of us think that the key to getting over something is to think our way out, which works for a while. However, there is constantly something that is able to send us back into an anxious spiral that we were attempting to make our way out of.

Inside this book, the doctor lays out why anxiety is going up all around you and is likely going up inside you as well. She tells you how to reduce anxiety while also utilizing it to push us into a life that can be full of meaning, peace, and joy.

Beck uses a combo of the latest in neuroscience and her background in coaching and sociology to show how brains can get stuck in an anxiety spiral, a feedback system that just increases anxiety. In order to get out, we have to engage the different parts of our nervous system that are involved in creativity.

The author is also able to give instructions as to how to engage the creativity spiral, a process that is able to help shut down anxiety while also leading to problem solving as well as a greater sense of meaning and purpose as well as a greater sense of connection with others and the world.

It turns out that according to Beck the opposite of anxiety is a great new way of living. It is one that is able to calm down and inspire as as individuals, helping us to become a source of healing for others around us.
