Sadie Jones is a British published author and the sister of Melissa Jones.

She was born in 1967 in London. Her mother was an actress and her father was a Jamaican poet and screenwriter (Evan Jones). She worked many different jobs and traveled for a while before deciding to settle in London. There she worked for years as a screenwriter but then decided to sit down and write her first novel The Outcast, and kept on going from there.

Her father grew up on a banana farm before moving to first America and then England. He is known for ‘The Song of the Banana Man’ first and foremost. Sadie’s mother Joanna has been part of many different television series and was featured as an extra in ‘The Avengers’ among other shows.

When she was younger, Sadie decided not to go to university and instead work odd jobs and travel. These jobs included temping, waiting tables, and video production. Before that, she attended Godolphin and Latymer School as well as Bath Technical College. She would eventually meet her husband, the architect Tim Boyd. They have two children and live together in London.

Sadie has written for episodes of shows on BBC TV and worked on a feature film. She is also working on a pilot for Disorder, a BBC series. Her debut novel was praised by critics and won the Costa First Novel Award. It was also a Richard and Judy Summer Reads Number One bestseller, and was also shortlisted for the Orange Prize.

The Outcast has been translated into a dozen language and sold over 500,000 copies while hitting Sunday Times Number 1 Bestseller status. A first episode of a 2-part television adaptation of the novel written by Jones broadcast on BBC1 in 2015. The second episode would be broadcast a week after the first and received a 7.7/10 rating on IMDb from users.

Jones’ second novel Small Wars also earned praise, with The Times deeming it ‘outstanding’. This novel ended up being longlisted for the Orange Prize. Her fifth novel The Snakes blew Alice O’Keefe away, who stated that she ‘may not read a better book this year’.

However, they are all surprised when the two go out for one of their adventures– and Lewis returns without his mother in tow.

Lewis is going through a lot of grief and some rage is coming out. Kit has made a promise on her own that she is going to help. But while trying to liberate both of them, she has no way of anticipating the secrets that must come out into the open first.
