Auden Patrick

Auden Patrick is a horror author from America with a dark and brooding style. He is a trans-masculine writer, a queer person, writing from a unique and engaging perspective Having grown up in the US South Auden has spent a lot of his time thinking about hauntings and what it means to be haunted.

That background shows up in how he moves through the world. He has passed many nights driving along various backroads in the dark. He has also chased magic whenever he can find it. These experiences give him plenty of material to draw from.

People who read his work tend to enjoy it. He has a real skill for building characters and protagonists that feel alive on the page. His stories are compelling, and the narratives he creates are engaging from start to finish.

Patrick’s characters do more than just carry a plot forward. They feel familiar in a way that sticks with readers long after the story ends. People see pieces of themselves in the protagonists he writes. That connection is part of what makes his work resonate so deeply.

His stories also give readers a place to get away from everyday life. The worlds he builds offer an escape that feels welcome and refreshing. Readers can step into something different for a while. That sense of escape is one of the things people value most about his writing.

None of this happens by accident. He understands what makes a character worth following. He knows how to make a narrative pull a reader in and hold on. Between the characters and the escape they provide, his stories leave a lasting impression.

As a writer he has found readers in many parts of the world. His stories travel well because the feelings inside them are easy to recognize. People from different places still connect with what his characters go through. That wide reach comes from something simple and honest.

He does not chase trends or write for anyone else’s approval. He stays close to who he is and what he knows. That honesty comes through on every page. Readers can tell when a writer means what they say.

Being true to himself is part of what makes his work entertaining. He writes about hauntings, backroads, and magic because those things matter to him. That care shows up in the stories he tells. It is also why so many people around the world keep coming back to read more.

Early and Personal Life

Auden Patrick came of age in the South of the US, where he was raised as a trans and queer person. A great deal of his life has centered on thoughts of hauntings and on driving back roads after dark. He has also spent time sorting out how his identity relates to the Baptist religion of his childhood.

Several themes stand at the heart of his writing. Among them are gender identity, the process of surviving trauma, and the question of what makes a monster. He also writes about how strange it feels to have a body. As a student, he joined Cat Rambo’s first Wayward Wormhole based Workshop in 2023. His work has been featured in publications such as Beaver Magazine and Apparition Lit.

Other interests fill his time when writing is not on his mind. Knitting is one of his hobbies. Planner supplies are another thing he enjoys focusing on. He also likes spending time at the library in his area.

Horatio Bithersea enters the library of the university the summer right before his impending sophomore year. There, he finds Carson Hamlett, the school’s golden boy as well as a master magician, holding his father’s lifeless body. At Elsinore, a highly regarded university in the hidden magic world, the professor’s death gets labeled an accident, and daily life carries on despite the strange details and the gory scenario.

A year passes, and Horatio tries to stay unnoticed while working toward graduation. He worries his magic, which he cannot control, might hurt other students. Then Hamlett’s father shows up as a ghost. The ghost curses Horatio and demands he destroy Elsinore along with its heart to avenge the death, or else lose his mind, his memories, and his soul.

Elsinore has provided Horatio with much. It gave him an understanding of his magical gifts, a way out from his family who are abusive, and the chance to live as a transgender male. Now he may be the one to bring it down. As the pair learn more about Elsinore’s secrets, Horatio gets pulled deeper into Hamlett’s dark yet charming hold. The real question posed is not whether Horatio will destroy Elsinore. It is whether Hamlett will ultimately ruin him first.

Countless readers found this book a joy to get through. The story keeps things moving and never drags. Horatio and Hamlett are easy to root for and worry about. Anyone curious about the book should give it a try.
